Yup. But none if it cost me what people spend today for a truck.

I can't even justify the money for a Tacoma. My 5500 dollar Dakota does the same things. I will update when electric is reasonable... hahaaa.

Seriously. No trucks are reasonably priced currently. None.

I'm surprised they didn't go 'all in' on the redesign, get rid of the 'frunk' and just shorten that thing up even more.

I agree. Even "small" trucks have gotten stupid large. I'm in a 20 year old Ranger and just want a new one with 0 miles and no rust. Unfortunately there's nothing like that on the market anymore.
Time to go buy one with low miles from Texas I guess.

I wonder if the crazy styling is a result of cost-cutting. IE making something that looks like this means they can make it for a lot less.
Really? $70k for the version with a 500 mile range that will pull 10k lbs? Thatís not impressive.

Maybe you didn't hear, but it's electric.

    Edit: also;
Triple motor all-wheel drive with 500 miles of range, 14,000-pound towing capacity, and 0–60 mph in under 2.9 seconds for $69,900

Reminds me of a Countach, but a truck. And would probably beat it.

SS unibody construction, that would be a big selling point in my eyes. $100 compared to the Rivian at $1000 and Rivian doesn't give you a final estimated cost. I'm not big on the styling, but this truck signifies the future.

Get used it. Dino juice needs to go away in our lifetime if we want a chance in hell not to turn this planet into a greenhouse.

And batteries and strip mining metals is good for our environment? Where does most of our electricity come from? This all sounds fucking dumb. I agree that getting off fossil fuels is important but this isn't the answer with the tech that is currently available and the processes currently utilized.

    Re: Let's talk trucks

Right now batteries really are the answer. We need a way to smooth out our grid demand to remove the need to spin up all these gas turbines and diesel generators. We also need a bridge to take us from peak solar production, to peak demand. Batteries make sense in that regard. Utilities are starting to install batteries now. The next step is grid tied electric vehicles that can discharge during peak demand to act as a buffer. I'm sure we'll be the last to do it, but this is our future.

Both unsustainable non-renewable energy sources. Cool!

    Next.

But seriously. Recycling lithium batteries is a process... And the lithium can't be used to create batteries again.

    Yet better than petroleum.

Don't fall into the "yeah but if it isn't perfect than it's bad" fallacy. The environmental damage and inefficiency of the ICE/gas/diesel world can't be understated. The wells. The refining. The emissions. The transport.

Even that "OH GOD I SHALL INSINUATE THAT ALL LITHIUM IS MINED BY KIDS BY HAND" article full of clickbait headlines even admits in the end that an EV vehicles uses half the carbon footprint of a gas vehicle over it's lifetime. HALF. Oh, right, here you go. NOT WORTH IT! IF IT'S NOT PERFECT IT SHALL BE DEEMED A COMPLETE FAILURE!
