for those who pre-ordered? why? truck aint gonna be here for another 2-3 years. yes i get $100 is nothing now and it is refundable but why not wait for the thing to actually launch, work out all the issues it will have, and you bet it will have plenty, allow it to get better and then buy?
do you believe price will go up or features will become more expensive (tesla is know to do that)?

Agreed. I read through the agreement for pre-ordering and realized that it seems as though the price you are signing up for isn't necessarily guaranteed. Also I have a co-worker that was on the pre-order list for the model 3 and the price went up on him. So I wasn't sure there was any benefit to pre-ordering so I did not. Please correct me if I missed something.

How did the truck thread turn into the Trump thread?
when did I say the climate wasn't changing, or that co2 wasn't increasing ?

and where does NASA say that man can change the trend ?

I have read that the point of the pre-orders is to basically crowd fund early production.

On this case it was obviously for marketing and drive the stock up.
But what’s in for the consumer? Obviously there’s only benefits for the business.

I thought pre ordering saved you from some price increases. Like self drive.

I'm sure you are aware but just an FYI, 13.3" of the F-150 width are related to the mirrors: F-150 = 83.5" Tesla Cyber = 79.8", so real world more like 4" narrower

    Let's talk trucks-truckw1-jpg

Ford’s width seemed like a major outlier but I think that might have to do with the inclusion of mirrors. The same F-150 spec sheet says the truck is 83.5 inches wide with its mirrors folded, which is more consistent with the others.

And think of the deposit more like a Kickstarter / Disney FastPass, just saves you a place in line and gives Tesla some additional working capital.

You may be correct on this. I recall something like that in the agreement, would have to read through it again to verify.

As per our discussions on the way to/from Hatfield I would be the last person that would care about the self drive feature though.

I think there was a statement that self drive is $7000 if you pre order and it will go up.
They did that with previous cars that got features “grandfathered”

Yeah. That was my first thought. But I argue if you aren’t in it for the tech, then Tesla isn’t for you.
Kinda feel that way about iglu too. But at least he has his refusal to buy from the big 3 (4?) going for him. You have a Ford in the yard.

    Re: Let's talk trucks

Several friends have Teslas: it became the VAR owner car for a while.

One lives in NNJ and to drive to Portsmouth NH (310 miles one way) and he has to recharge in CT, which takes about 45 minutes.

“Range Anxiety” is an EV thing. Still don’t see how they get around the drop in battery output and nιed for cabin heating in cold weather. The technology should improve rapidly but we are still in the early adopter stage.

All these trucks are vaporware until you can actually take delivery on one. Then, and only then, can we get some people testing real world functionality and usability.

That Nikola sounds ridiculously impressive if they can actually pull it off as they describe.

I like how they list like 15 insane specs and add "5 seats" to the list hah.

I wonder what the price point will be.

Nikola looks a lot like a Raptor, not a bad thing.

I wonder what the insurance companies will think about you driving a car around with a tank full of stable hydrogen in the trunk. Before you get all high and mighty, I would agree that it is probably pretty safe design, but the general conception of H2 in busses was a big deterrent several years back when municipalities started the conversion.
