pulled into McDonalds today to grab some food and happened to notice my odometer. 270,000 miles, and still runs great

it's an 1989 toyota pickup. it's on it's 2nd OEM clutch (original was replaced at 140k). I had an oil leak from the gasket, and that's it. I've replaced fuel filters when recommended, and the timing chain before it broke. the truck was given to me at 98k miles in 1996, from my dad who bought it brand new in 89. I've done all the tune ups and scheduled maintenance on it before anything breaks, so it's always run without problems.

V-6 3.0L motor. No synthetic oil, been using Mobil high milage 10W-30 since it came out. Have a 2nd one I bought 2 summers ago, but haven't done anything with it yet. I can put some pictures up, didn't think there were that many Toyota fans.

I made a cardomain page years ago. Havent really done anything with it in the past year or so, but all the pictures are on there. Don't mind the neon lights, I installed them back in high school, and never bothered to take them out.
Page 4 has the progress of the mods

Nice! I just picked up Geno's 1998 Tacoma and it clicked over 135,000 miles yesterday. It's a damn nice little truck and I hope to have it for many years to come.

wouldn't some people have a place in their heart since we grew up on the bttf hillux?

either way, I think your truck is great...I have a '97 tacoma which I plan to keep awhile, so I always like to hear about toyotas going strong

do you have the reverse glow gauges AND the OEM back lighting for the gauges?

I was thinking about reverse glow gauges, but I don't like how it overlaps with the back lighting. And if you take the back lighting off, the needle doesn't light up...

but back to the original topic...how long did you go before replacing the timing chain?

Yes, APC's white gauge kit. not worth $110 i think, but they make it look nicer. I ripped off the green cover off the dash bulbs, so the bulbs were brighter and lit up the white gauges better

my needle never lit up before, but it's pretty bright with all the bulbs behind it.
