    Re: Tractors - Educate me

smoothing out my firing range / utv trail that is adjacent to my rear property line today with my toe hoe, worked quite a while on a 24" maple stump, it finally came out. dragged a few yards of dirt off a high spot into a depression, and dug a boulder that was about 75% buried and moved it about 12 feet out to my boundary line, once I got it up out of the hole, I saw it's size roughly 3'tall x 4ft x 4 ft = 4 tons , with my little 5hp 990 lb toe hoe, was actually a lot easier than getting the stump out.

Guy on TBN posted this vid of his buddy, under the title, “ lucky to walk away.” Apparently New Brunswick has locally bred Rednecks.

“The driver [myself] is okay. Walked away without any injury or sore or band aid! God is so good. Be safe out there on tractors. I was trying to pull truck out. Without logs on tires the tractor will be stuck, period. This technique were our last option after 5 hours of trying. God is NOT dead!!!!”

When you watch the video on YouTube, a ton of others come up as well. ROPS Not Found. Scary.

Fortunately in NH rocks are always at hand. So far most of my, “Now why did you go and do that?” moments involve sinking the front wheels. Been able to back myself out with the bucket curl, or lift them up with the FEL and fill the craters with rocks.

Tractor rollovers, overturns and back flips

The list of events causing tractor fatalities in Pennsylvania for a recent five-year period is mind numbing in its repetition of rollovers, overturns, rollbacks and backflips, but each statistic represented a tragic loss of an irreplaceable family member or friend. Stunningly, about 70 percent of the deaths could have been avoided if the tractor had been equipped with a roll bar alone, (for folks who won’t wear seat belts), and 99 percent of the victims would still be alive and have escaped serious injury if they had used a roll bar plus a seat belt.
    ROPS became mandatory in 1985.

    Re: Tractors - Educate me

Growing up in PA on a farm, I will say that I've had my fair share of pucker moments on tractors especially given our farm was a lot of hills. Tractors are amazingly powerful given their relative short wheel base.
Most of the farmers I new were running 50+ year old tractors, not many with newer machines and all the safety gizmos, and seat belts?? In fact you would find most safety guards or other non-essential parts not attached to equipment. I could tell you some stories about uncle stumpy...

I may need back up. A gun and a trailer if I have to go to Hyde park. Any willing participants. I replied. Will see what comes back.

Will pay for hauling! If this is legit!

Hyde Park you need a StarBucks card, not a gun.

Don’t plan on storing the tractor in it, but wanted to make sure our ne shed could support the worthless toy / overgrown garden tractor.. That way we can attach and detach implements, or store the tractor there if we wanted the garage space for something else. Base is 2x6’s on 12” centers and two layers of plywood.

Yes! We put the PTO stuff on mover’s dollies so they can be rolled around.

It was built by Post Woodworking (prefab) after a local excavator cleaned out the stumps and put down gravel. No way we could DIY as its 100 miles away. This is his medium excavator: my tractor can lift 1400+ lbs and could not budge the stumps.

Is that a trussed roof? It looks like the bottom cords of the truss have been cut/removed?
Also, the truss clips (hurricane ties) are on the wrong side, they are supposed to be on the outside and fastened through the wall plywood into the top plate.
