    .

I added a GraCoil system to my BT-99 (adjustable comb), and the combination of adjustments that these two options afford allows for a near perfect fit. The fairly significant recoil reduction is just an added bonus.

Be careful that you're not cheating bad fit by mounting the gun before the bird comes out and trying to maintain a contorted position to keep the bead/rib lined up while you swing. That's one of those bad habits you should break as soon as possible.

If you want to get into bird hunting and/or sporting clays you'll want to be shooting "low gun" with both eyes open.
That requires a gun that fits really well. Remember you don't aim a shotgun.

Adjustable combs help. but it's not a guarantee that you can get the gun to fit. You really have to go shoulder the gun and know what correct fit looks and feels like.
It can be a bitch... It doesn't help that there's so much bad information out there on fit. If a sales guy has you stick the butt into your elbow to check length of pull and immediately announces that the gun fits you should start ignoring everything else that comes out of their mouth.

You're welcome to come out to Minuteman and shoot my 725 and Maxxus. They also have some loaner Benellis that you could try.
Minuteman is 100% shotgun, and the guys are all cool. You could get your hands on 10-12 different guns in short order. Guys like Angelo Troisi are also always hanging around. They know more about this stuff than all of teh Cabelas counter jerkoffs combined.
Fuck yeah, man. I'm in. Can I bring my buddy Steve? After a bunch of skeet & 5 stand, we've both been wanting to try sporting clays for a while now.

Strike that, think I'm gonna have enough time to squeeze in a few rounds tomorrow. I'll likely be at N. Leominster right around 10. I'll know for sure in the A.M.

Hey Pete... Let's try to figure out a time where I can get together with you and His Trickiness...

Like, a weekend where I come cuddle at your place, we drive to Tricky's, pet his dog, hug his wife, kick his neighbor's cat, hump him in the ass, and go shoot whatever beautiful shotguns he and I both own. You can have "big spoon"

I recently picked up a BT-99 Plus, mostly because I didn't own one. As expected, it's very nice, but I don't feel like it handles as well as my 101 Trap Model.

Re: Trap / Skeet on Saturday?

I guess I'm a little late on catching up on this thread.

Funny story about the browning 725 that was mentioned... i had a 725 Sporting 12/30, couldn't get it to fit, kept modifying and changing adjustable butt pads and adding flexibilty, etc... none of it fuckin worked. I either was comfortable and shot it like complete shit, or I was crushing every single clay but getting cheekslap and ending up literally with bruises on my face and shoulder. In the end, probably spent 500 bucks working on the gun and another 500 bucks lost on the resale when I sold it.

i ALSO had the stock crack on that thing and had to wait many months for browning to replace it. While I was waiting for that I picked up a new winchester sxp pump (also came with a free buck barrel, chokes, etc) for like 450 bucks. Hilariously, I shoot it better than I ever did my $4k over under.

So Pete, I can say the Winny SXP is a good pump. Has helped my speed as I am at a "disadvantage" with the pump but I've come to really enjoy the additional challenge (especially with the faster true pairs). The gun itself is durable and you won't be really upset if you bang it around a little bit. Can double as a field gun as well.

The other gun in your list that's intriguing is the montefeltro... those are GREAT guns. However the price of 900 seems high as you can buy them for that new. So unless that's a nicer model (features or wood/detail), it's probably not a great price.

It's the season now, me and Tricky will be crushing them at Minuteman on the regular.

PS Gino Addieville is sweet I've heard... been meaning to check it out. Think tricky has been there for a lesson once or twice.

Trophy is bigger that you !

Addy has 15 stations and you can rent golf carts if you don't feel like walking all over the place or have bad knees (Father-in-law). the place is pretty impressive. you can even go on guided hunts if you so choose.

I have a feeling that Kate and I will be getting into this more with him.

father i-in -law had us watch a VHS vid on shooting where he mentions bringing up the trigger hand to your face like you are going to drink Scotch. bring it up slowly so as not to spill the scotch! I can relate to that. some old British bloke.

Minuteman Sporting clays will be open to experienced non-members on Saturdays and Sundays now through the end of February if anyone wants an opportunity to get out and see the course. Just make sure you stop into the clubhouse on arrival. They'll get you set up with a guest card, etc.
The club also sells ammunition if needed.
