Took me a few minutes to figure out that it would be hard to hunt from this.

I read "wheel stand" and was thinking balancing, tire removal etc. Clicked the pic and it sorta made sense but was wondering why it needed to be watered.

Struggling hopelessly with the tree while my family sits back and laughs is kind of a hallmark of our Christmases

Had that one growing up. Works great. Now I have this one, going on two years. Stick it in, ratchet loosly, stand it up, quick release the ratchet, then ratchet it down while holding it strait. Much faster setup, and just as fast to adjust. Works great on our 14' trees.

I used to do that myself till I purchased this stand. The cats have even climbed the tree without it falling over. Watching the tree fall over because of that sinairo , although entertaining as it was, is something I would like to avoid.

I have this stand too. Works great. Takes just a couple of minutes to set up the tree. And holds a bunch of water

    Re: Best Tree Stand Ever

My issue is my stand only holds the tree at the top. So if the tree is soft and manages to shift on the bolts holding it, the bottom easily moves to a side and then topples over. The bolts only serve as a pivot point. I think this summer I'm going to grab some steel from the shop and whip something up, that will probably weight 85#, look like shit, leak water, and get rusty. But that's how I roll.

    Re: Best Tree Stand Ever

I have this one which uses eight bolts to hold the tree. If you look closely the bolts are L shaped at the end so you can adjust them with you fingers. I swapped them out with standard 1/2 hex heads and use a speed handle with a half inch socket to adjust them.

I Lay the tree down in the driveway with the netting still on, get the stand snug on the trunk so you can stand the tree upright. With the tree upright I use the speed handle and crank on the bolts as needed to get it straight. The whole process takes no more than a couple of minutes. I then haul it in the house with the stand on it and cut the netting after putting it in place. I find it's easier to tell if the tree is straight when the netting is still on.

The tree always ends up straight and rock solid. I've been doing this for 5 years now and see no reason to look for a better set up.

    Re: Best Tree Stand Ever

I have a little 16" tall ceramic christmas tree from my Grandpa that he painted during arts&crafts at the old folks' home. It stands on its own just fine, and doesn't get needles all over.

Last year I modded it by taking out the plug-in incandescent bulb and holder, and replacing it with an LED puck light. Grandpa would have been proud.

It's obviously too short to put presents under, but I don't have a fireplace so Santa doesn't stop here anyways.
