    F* Verizon

Came home from a weekend away to find that instead of races, I have hours of a screenshot of Verizon whining about Bein wanting to be paid for their content. The only channels I care about are Bein and NESN. How do I get Sox and B's games online?

I’m not positive, but can you just do internet, and use the Amazon fire stick and then I hear you can buy single channels you want?

    Cancel.

If you don't, you are just enabling their behavior in the future. Shit is unacceptable. With the money people pay for TV service, to have them crying to YOU about their inabilities to work out an agreement is just horseshit.

I use YoutubeTV - $40 a month, has NESN included in their channel lineup. No BEIN on there, though it might be an option for a different package?

    I agree, FUCK Verizon.

I had a 1 year lease on an apartment, was moving, and set a date to cancel my fios. They came like 5 days early and shut it off. I wasn't going to bother getting it turned back on for a few days, so I just toughed it out with no service.

Then the bill comes.... with a $200 early termination fee. 364 days. they came and disconnected me early to get it 1 day under a year. It took 6 months and like 20 phone calls to get my $200 back.

Absolutely, because if you want something done properly and efficiently, hand it to the government.

God I wish I still lived in a town with a municipal light/power department. Cheap power and quick repairs from outages.

Our town is in the process of building out our own ISP due to Verizon continually fucking us for the last 15 years.

Having lived in a town with muni light/power (Marblehead) I can agree it was great. I moved into an apartment there, and there was no meter installed and thus no power. I called them up, the lady just grabbed a radio and asked a guy if he could come over and put on a meter, and she took my info for the bill. The guy was there in 15 minutes.

On the other hand when I moved out and built a new house in Salem, it took 4 months to get National Grid to come out and pull a cable from a box on the curb, to the house (30 feet) and install a meter. It took them 20 minutes to do, but I waited 4 months and actually lived without power in my house for a while.

Salem only has Comcast for broadband, but just signed a deal with a company called SiFi. SiFi is going to microtrench fiber to *every* building in the city and allow *multiple* ISPs/providers to offer service on a single fiber. I cannot wait.

We have a municipal power department and it rocks, vastly superior to the private sector by every measure. Based on 20+ years experience with our power department, I'd love to have a muni ISP too.

LMAO, ask the folks who live or have experienced Municipal utility service and there's universal praise.

    Damn socialists, all of em!

But seriously, been debating cutting the cord..... probably gonna act on it now.

For racing, get MotoGP VideoPass, share it with a few friends. Easy as pie. I think we have 5 of us sharing, never an issue. Just don't get too hyped to watch the races live, they can have issues with buffering during high-interest races. Just watch em all after, it's sick.

Wish I had an answer to watch WSBK (typically can find Eurosport feeds and such).. MotoA is... as much as they're trying... it's just boring. 600 and SBK have maybe 3-4 guys who can fight for anything.

I guess there is enough people to help a municipal set up the service and hire to operate it, but I can only imagine the teething pains they went through with electricity when it first started. They have that one all figured out now. What is the learning curve on a municipal ISP?

No, it sounds fishy. If you can't say the name of a legal paid service publicly, then there is cause for questioning.

    Bully and challenge? Seriously? Lol.

To be fair, ESPN costs service providers roughly $4 per month to offer. So for your whole channel lineup to be $5 a month, which is like 80% lower than a package from Sling or DirecTV Now, yeah, something seems a bit off.

I know you're being sarcastic, but you're actually 100% correct. I don't think there's a single industry that isn't better off being run by the government vs. private. When you're not beholden to shareholders, you can make the right investments in your business.
