Thanks!
Sound advice. Once I get the band fitted, I'll wear it like I stole it! Actually, CEO, you might know, do I need to bring it to a certified Breitling dealer to have a couple links taken out of the band to fit my scrawny wrists or can I take it to any jeweler and have it done without affecting the warranty on the watch?
I have citien now but I want a movado SE.
What up, bitches?
I had the same model, only blue. Nice size and look. The luminescence isn't great overnight. It drove me crazy. I have an atomic synched clock next to the bed and the 5 lost two minutes a month for the first few months I wore it, then started gaining up to four minutes a month. It's back in the drawer while I decide what to do with it. Not sure I'm digging automatic movements.
I've tried about five different watches. I keep coming back to a 100 lap Timex IronMan T5E241. It's accurate to within two seconds a month, has two time zone settings, countdown and count up timers with lap features, and five alarms. It's a little too busy style-wise but I keep coming back to it because it works.
Unlike the G-Shocks I owned, you can see the display easily and they remain waterproof after a battery change. $50 with a one year warranty and you can extend the warranty to five years for $5.

That's the trade-off with mechanical movements of all types. Even chronometer-certified ones aren't nearly as accurate as a basic quartz watch. If all you care about is style and accuracy, then a quartz watch is probably the best choice, particularly one that doesn't require batteries (such as Seiko's Kinetic line or Citizen's EcoDrive line). But if you're a watch geek fascinated by a tiny, complex machine running off the energy stored in a spring, mechanical watches are worth the trade-offs. Personally, since most watches run a little fast, I just set them 30 seconds or so slow, let them catch up and get a little fast, then reset them. No big deal.
That green Seiko 5 disappeared at some point between when I got hit by that SUV and when I came to in the hospital. No idea where it ended up. So I recently got this black one to replace it, because it was on sale through Amazon for only $54.

Ive got quite a few but ive recently lost my prized seiko. Mostly ive got esq's and rolex for sepecial occasions. My fave is the hand made one I got from my wife. Its a watchcraft one. Based on the citizens eco drive. Its really steampunkish. Reminds alot of the game bioshock for some reason. Ill have to post pics of it later. There pretty cheap and stone cold reliable. I get more inquiries about that one than my bling rolex. My wife also has a seriously huge swatch collection. Ive got one thats 6ft big hanging on my wall.
Tried taking it to the jeweler on base during my lunch break today... no go. Apparently the newer Breitlings require a certified dealer even just to fiddle around with the links in the band as they're held together by pins that require a special tool to remove. oh well, got it taken care of after work.
There are several related threads on advrider.

I've been outbid on three Casio MDV102-1AV on eBay in the last month.....

I've got an IWC 3717 with a Big Pilot style alligator strap, and a PAM 90... Both for special occasions
Daily wearers are a bunch of fossils (on the other end of the spectrum!), and an old Tag. Looking at getting a Tissot PRC200 for a dressy/casual everyday watch, for the money you can't beat it.
Cheers,

Just got a 1960s Omega Constellation... put a relatively cheap band on it, but it is an absolutely beautiful piece. It keeps great time, especially considering its movement and its vintage.
I own several larger, more modern watches from the bigs names, but am starting to shy away from the "big-swininging-dick" syndrome that plagues most modern watch designs. I like the simple, classic designs that are getting harder to find.
Can't remember the last time I wore a watch, but can definitely appreciate what I've seen and read in this thread.
Some really nice pieces you guys own.
I stopped wearing a watch when Timex discontinued this Expedition:
I sent them a letter asking why they would kill a perfect product... they sent me back a brochure of their new ugly versions.

Obsolete and I have both had our movado pieces for way longer than we've known each other and both of them are still perfect, I know they're nothing too special, but I like the classic style, and the lack of problems we've both had with them over time.
I have an infatuation with a clock that I had been a caretaker of for a few years before realizing what it was, after it went to it's intended inheritor, an Atmos clock

This is what it looked like. Unfortunately for me, it's a bit out of my budget. Eventually though, I'd love to have this version of it on my mantel again:

Yeah yeah it's a littleI just find it really interesting.
All these Breitlings are making me drool, it's too bad my disposable income is non-existent for things like this lately... one can dream![]()
