I really need to come up with a new airfilter setup. Currently have to clean my filter once a week due to all the dust out here. I have a plan for a snorkel setup involving a snorkel head coming out of one of the rear vents. I haven't decided on what to run that down to yet. Some people stuff donaldson equipment filters in, which I like the idea of.

Donaldson setup, I can't figure out which model this is. The one downside to these is the ports are positioned it can be tricky to service the filter.

Rocky Mountain Westy has a new airbox for subaru conversions that uses the stock subaru filters, I could easily run the pre cleaner to that.

Some placement ideas for the prefilter. Not sure if I want to use a ram or topspin cyclone setup.

I want to keep it close to the body so it doesnt get smashed in the woods, but I still need to be able to pop the top.

The fishing around here doesn't suck either... Some big trout are around this time of year.

Shot down through Yellowstone And Teton NP to Jackson over the weekend. Rolling over 14k miles since Sept 1st.

Still can't figure out the image quality issue when posting to forums... Doesn't seem to be a browser issue either.

Also my daily commute is 26 miles of that road one way. Generally only see one or two other cars, see herds of elk, white tail and mule deer, moose, fox, coyotes, wolves, mountain goats and sheep. Haven't seen a lion yet but have seen tracks and a deer kill.

Those things are fun, but have much more limited space inside.

Do you guys suffer with rust issues on those vans?

If so, how do you keep on top of it?

Oh god yes, especially in places where the roads are salted. From the factory the wall behind the kitchen had fiberglass insulation. This would just trap moisture that would leak in through the hookup boxes or from condensation inside. Most full camper westfalias have had the lower side section under the hookups replaced. The seams are also notorious for rusting from the inside out.

When I first got my van I por 15'd the entire inside. I have some surface rust forming in most of the seams but I paint them with ospho once ever few months until I can go in and repaint the whole van which may happen in the next couple weeks. I spray the undercarriage and suspension with oil/fluidfilm as well.

Sprinters are not immune, especially the T1N (through 2006). These are patch panels to go right around the bottom. May not need all of them but they are relatively inexpensive and save the body shop a lot of time. Got these from MillSupply.com.
