Yea mileage would suck but it could tow a sled...
11-12 MPG... yikes... take a large tow behind (bikes+...?) and your MPGs will suffer, what - 1 or 2 MPGs?
Well this thread can be changed to WTB Westfalia parts......

I hope you started her on a course of anti-rejection meds before the transplant. Should we be wary of any German engine(eered) Subarus on Craigslist? Bless you for having the gumption to do it though!

EJ22?
Kepping it stock.. Planning on trying to stick a subaru 5 speed in there probably when the vw transaxle needs a rebuild. At that time it may get a Frankenmotor but who knows. I may have managed to find a syncro that would be an excellent donor for the all wheel drive bits. drove 250 miles yesterday and still have a quarter tank left... That would have never happened with the old motor. It's hilarious to be able to cruise on the highway step on the gas and pass people now. No more flinstoning. Went over the kink and just had to downshift for the one switchback on the way up cruised up the rest in 4th. I had very limited mechanic abilities when I first picked this up. So taking my daily driver and shaping everything out I'm a few days was a little aggressive. Now to tackle the suspension
Yea I got a bunch of parts from rocky mountain westy. Pretty awesome build quality on their stuff. New engine carrier bar. Stainless coolant pipes front to back their exhaust setup which is kinda UEL sounds awesome. The stock VW transaxle bolts right up to the subaru with an adapter plate.
Next Items on the list are some powerflex goodies for the suspension fox shocks and 2" lift springs. Going to grab some 16'' wheels so i can fit the porsche front brake rotors I have under them. Then its safari time, need to either weld up my own or drop the coin on some bumpers that can accommodate the swingouts I want for the rear and a decent brush/deer thrower for the front. Solar/house battery setup and at that time i'll add a new truck fridge.
