i want it really bad to have up at the track....i still use just a mtn bike.

it would also be perfect to teach the gf how to ride.

shit now i'm starting to justify it.

Confirmed, that's a bargin basement ebay special. The front end was originally introduced to the US market via ebay under the 'Demon' label, and is a complete pile of shite. Stock CRF50 forks work better than those lame piles. In back you'll find a snap happy 'Fast Ace' style shock on a swingarm designed with one goal in mind, making the bike tall. As a result, there is nothing linear or progressive about the leverage ratios as it moves.

That said, there are good import bikes to be had, this isn't one of them.

RUN AWAY, for $800 you can do MUCH BETTER.

case covers should say honda and the cert of org...i bet there something with the VIN as well...

he says heavily modded, if so the mods will be mostly in decent quality billet parts....and name brands on them, BBR, 2bros, TAG etc...if they look cheap and like stamped metal it is most likely a clone...

another giveaway is if has been converted to a clutch...on a lot of clones you cannot start the bike with the clutch pulled in, it needs to be in neutral to start it or you need to pop it

haha thanks for the info. Even if it was a real CRF at that price i probably wouldn't buy it anyway right now.

The motor is a standard import unit, 107cc or smaller, so it won't be primary kick. There isn't a plate over the clutch held on by two screws hiding the adjuster mechanism, so it's not a crank mounted manual. The single screw on the clutch side gives it away as being an auto clutch. The motor may be Honda, the frame, suspension, wheels and swingarm are 100% barrel scraping ebay special chinese crap, typically sold as a set.

Here's your potential machine, just add motor:

There are good imports, and then there is that crap. Thumpys, at least their later stuff is good material. SEMRA has a spec class built around one of their models and they pound the snot out of them without issue. They had some early stumbles like most import brands though, so you still need to do your homework when buying a used unit.

If by 'made in the USA' you mean hauled off a container ship in crates 99% pre-assembled, and live in said crates till they can be drop shipped to a buyer... sure. : ) The only US built minis are Vincos, and I dunno anyone local that can afford them. The rest are made and assembled in China.

Be wary of the 120cc Sikks, for some reason the Lifan's they've been sourcing have been very problematic.
