    1972 Yamaha RD350

I got this as part of a package deal the guy wouldnt split up.
It's all there but as you can see, needs a lot of TLC.
It is salvagable and checking ebay before listing, prices of parts are not too bad. Bike is all stock with the exception of a pair of ace bars.
    Milage is showing as 10639.
    The good.
The engine turns freely and has good compression, there is a key which fits both the ignition and tank cap. Inside of the tank is not too bad, could be saved with POR15 treatment. Frame, wheels and forks have rust but are usable.
    The bad.
Seat including the pan is toast.
    No paperwork.
Tank is dented on both sides from the ace bars.
Could be an interesting winter project?
Thought I would offer here before posting on CL. More photos available on request.
    $250.

Ahhhh, that's a great rat bike or resto project. No title no problem, it's not likely stolen and you just declare lost title and get vintage plates. As a matter of fact, what are you doing later.... just kidding I have no time for it.

You know man, I had one this cherry when I was a kid, had dual coils with matching orange plug wires, aftermarket shocks..... but the front end got damaged when some jackass made a u-turn right in front of me and I couldn't get behind him in time. I still rode it home, LOL. But hindsight being 20-20 I wish I had never sold it. It also taught me the value of careful application of clutch and throttle on a 3-2 downshift 'cos I almost wore it like a hat. Everybody was like, "Wow." I was like, where can I go and check my pants.

    Re: 1972 Yamaha RD350

The bike came from Millbury, it was passed along. The last owner was given the bike but no paperwork. He tried to get the title for me but no luck.
I have seen frames pretty cheap on ebay, which could be an option.
What year were titles required in Mass? Would this qualify under any exemptions?
The motor has great compression... vintage racer?

It kills me to have to pass on this bike. I've wanted one of these for years!

Would love to see this thing all polished up.

    Good luck with the sale.

    Re: 1972 Yamaha RD350

$200 takes it, if it's still here on Thursday, it is going on CL.
With Rice-O-Rama coming up, someone will snap it up and part it out.
The engine alone must be worth $200!
Too many bikes and not enough time otherwise I would keep it!

    Re: 1972 Yamaha RD350

Nice buy! I was hoping to get this posted up before anyone bought it in case it makes a difference, but unless that had a complete front end swap including gauges, its a '73 at the earliest (probably built in '72). They had drums, different side covers, and a few other small differences up till '72. Probably better to have this year anyway since you'd probably want a disc front, plus more parts are available. Get on usa2strokers, and 2strokeworld forums for good tech stuff. Should make a sweet ride.

PS this is a '72, I paid $700 for it and had to tear it apart due to holed pistons

I can still hear it and smell it like it was yesterday... the sound of the engine climbing through the powerband was said to be the sound of ripping silk. You'll see. It will sign off at about 90mph but it will be fun getting there.

I want to find an RZ350 or LC400 to race at the track next year.

Clarification, year of manufacture was 11/72 making it a 73 model, (RD350A I believe!)

I have 1.5 RZ 350's awaiting restoration, the whole bike has full Toomey kit on it, (pipes and airbox) It starts with a few kicks 2 or 3 times a year!
I am going to build it this winter.... (I have said that for the past 2 years!!)
This is the only pic I have of it, it also has the bikini fairings which I removed.
I do have a full race fairing and seat unit also which I would part with if you get one, they are rough but usable!!
