    SOLD - 1988 Honda Hawk GT ~ NT 650 - Maine -

I'll post more photos later this afternoon...

    1988 Honda Hawk GT - NT650

    1988 Honda Hawk GT - NT650 - $3300 (Midcoast Maine)

Also known as the RC 31....

The story of the RC31 is an interesting tale, analogous in some respects to the Shelby cobra. It was designed by Toshiaki Kishi, levereged from the RC30 project, it was the second Honda motorcycle with Pro-Arm rear suspension.

The NT650's main visual distinction is it's frame and swingarm. The dual spar aluminum frame and single sided swingarm (licensed from ELF) were pretty high tech in 1988.

The RC31 was ahead of its time in many regards and was one of the first modern Naked bikes, released several years before the Ducati Monster and Suzuki SV650.

The Hawk GT was introduced in 1988 and produced through 1991. In 1988 the bike was sold in the colors Metallic Tempest Gray and Candy Flair Blue. For the remainder of the bikes production run it was only sold in red.

The Hawk GT is a great handling rig, makes great power for such a small package, sounds awesome with the FMF canister on it.. I bought it from the original owner about five years ago with the intent to use it as a track day ride, never did it because it is in such good condition, I could not bear the thought of dropping it on the track.

It came to me equipped with a Supertrapp System and I never did care for the sound so I installed a sweet sounding FMF Oval can and mid-pipe... much better in my opinion.
I also upgraded the front rotor and caliper which really did not need to be done but while hanging around the Hawk GT forum you (I) tend do these things.

The Gino's Chain Roller is an item manufactured be a fellow on the GT Board, nice unit to keep the chain in proper tension and off the swingarm.

Color matched period Targa fairing was made specifically for the Hawk GT model, the front directionals are not moved rather the fairing has been shaped to accommodate and it works well to eliminate buffeting, use with a full face or three quarter helmet.

I have owned four other Hawk GTs over the years and this one is simply the best I have ridden.
You will not be disappointed in the condition. There are a couple of light scratches in the paint, usual wear that is to be expected on a motorcycle of this age. Gauges and dash are perfect as are all the controls.

    Fox rear shock
    Progressive springs up front
    Corbin seat
    Targa fairing
320 rotor with updated Tokico Six Piston caliper with
    Custom made adapter mounting plate
Stainless braided brake line in front
    Gino's chain roller assembly
    FMF oval canister and mid-pipe
    Supertrapp canister and pipe included
    Stock rotor and caliper
    Good tires
New battery last Spring, kept charged over the Winter

Honda shop manual, original owners manual, tool kit

    14, 183 miles.

I am changing things up in the garage and down-sizing to only a couple of regular rides. I currently register four motorcycles each year and I can get away with a couple fewer.

Ok, just for youz guys - $3150.00

Happy to answer any questions, this Hawk GT is as close to perfect as it gets...

Why did I sell my 89 Hawk GT???

It had a Weisco 700cc piston kit, Fox shock, emulators up front, clip ons, left side exhaust and it ran great.....I sold it for 800 bucks too....
