    1990 Yamaha FZR 400

I hate to do it, but I'm putting my 1990 Yamaha FZR 400 up for sale.
It's currently has 5,3xx miles on it, and it's in excellent condition.

For those familiar with this model, you know that it's renown for its telepathic handling and screamer of an engine. And for those that don't know much about it I can assure you that this bike has built a cult following because it is relatively rare and was way ahead of its time.

This would make a great beginner's bike because it has a low seat height, low weight and manageable torque curve. But its also rewarding to experienced riders who can conserve momentum through corners.

This bike isn't a museum piece bike, but you'd be hard pressed to find another one in this good condition. Most have been thoroughly thrashed on race tracks.

    -clean title in hand
-an extra set of all plastics (screen, front, both mids, both lowers, tank, rear)
-Chasis/Frame tuned by Peter Kates at GMD
    -Ohlins shock (GMD tuned)
    -Race tech emulators (GMD tuned)
    -SS brake lines

    Asking $3500 for everything
$3000 with stock shock and no extra plastics.

    Thanks

    Wow, great bike. GLWS!

Anyone know what classes this could run in at Loudon? Cant decide whether it'd be a shame to track such a well kept example, or a bigger shame not to given the suspension work.

It'd run in ULSB and LWSS I believe.

    Would it be competitive?

I do know the USCRA just created a class it would fit in. P4; Formula 3, I believe.

Box stock, it'd be heavy and lacking torque, but a good rider could make a go of it. They used to be a CCS staple but the rise of the SV displaced them as the cheap go to bike. This is actually what I want to build once my ST3 sells, I have two different near bolt together builds that should make it a solid fighter... but no cash to follow through at the moment. I'd also love to try one as a street mount instead of my GS...

I haven't raced this particular FZR, but I have taken it to Loudon. It's a bit frustrating getting passed on the straight, but makes it even more fun catching bigger bikes on the rest of the track. A lot of fun.

So basically a TZ125 traveled forward in time and got impregnated by an R6 before returning to the year 1990 to give birth. He's got his mother's geometry.

More or less. Stock (motor) one will get *smoked* in ULSB. But a damn fun track bike for track days Hmmmm...

Taxes and mother's day come around every year. These bikes don't.
