1996 Honda RS125 with good spares kit
I got this last year for a first race/track bike, but am now thinking of just doing track days for a while. It's an amazing track machine, obviously, and I'd love to grow into it skills-wise, but if I'm just doing track days I feel I should get something lower-maintenance (like an SV).
It's a pretty sweet little 125. It has a Penske double-clicker, and the spares kit includes a like-new stock shock. It also has a Battle Factory quick shifter, and carbon fiber reeds. The exhaust can has half a track day on it.
The spares kit is extensive. Pistons, rings, jets, spark plugs, sprockets in various sizes, clip-ons, various gaskets, clutch plates, a brand new Brembo front caliper, other clutch parts...lots of other things I'm not experienced enough to know by sight. Also comes with an unused set of Dunlop slicks, spare bodywork (lower, seat cowl), and extra used/repairable expansion chambers. FWIW, it also comes with an (emergency, weekend-saving) spare crank. It's basically a full snapshot of a workhorse privateer spares kit.
The motor is in end-of-season condition, and the upper fairing is cracked near the left fairing stay (at the site of a previous repair). The right frame slider is in post turn-10 lowside condition. Might need other little things to pass tech for racing also. I did the top end 4 track days ago. The crank almost certainly has a few more track days in it, but if you were taking it racing you should probably do a rebuild.
$3600 for all, or trade +/- cash for a sorted track bike (preferably an SV, mayyybe a 600 if it promises to be gentle, probably not a motard).
Located in Somerville, MA. Pics to come.
