    WTB: 94'ish Toyota 4cyl 4x4

Been scouring Craigslist and it's bountiful amount of scams, but if someone happens to come across one with a 22R, I'd love to take it off of your hands.

They are a tough find because people hold on to them forever. Tacoma's are the balls

Nope. 95.5's and up had the recall. 94's are not part of that.

    sold that one, but it's a V6. i'm going to be selling my 89 4x4 soon, but it's a V6 as well.

any reason you're looking for the 22r motor?

I can wrench it like nobody's business, because I had two of them in High School and spent a good deal of time breaking/flooding/gooping them up off roading. I once got my '90 stuck overnight in a local pit (Brandy Brow, for any of you no the North Shore). It rained like the end of the world that night, and when I went with a buddy to drag her out, my engine was about 3/4 underwater, along with my exhaust. I'll be damned if the thing didn't fire right up and drive out of there. Ruined my seats, stereo, headlights and everything else, but I almost fell over when it turned over as though it was brand new.

I plan to commute with it in the winter, and an offroad toy is never a bad thing, so MPG + unkillable motor that I know how to work on = happy pants. I'm not completely against the v6, so when you're ready to let it go do hit me up if I haven't found something before then. 90-94 iirc are the golden years for these.

i love Brandy Brow! I drove a Yukon in HS that I used to beat senseless out there. Fun place for mudding with the quads and partying as well. Last I heard they'd started patrolling out there, but that was prob 5 or 6 years ago. I can't imagine how they effectively patrol that spot. I remember it before there were any gates, signs, anything. Any idea what it's like these days?

check out http://www.searchtempest.com/ setup your search to scan the regions around you, then search for 22re, youll find a ton of stuff.

i know you said 94ish, but the 80's and 90's 22re trucks were all pretty solid.

    heres a few results

you could also look for a t100, i believe some of those had a 22re, then switched to the 3rz-fe, which is a better toyota 4cylinder that was in tacomas from 95.5-current afaik.

if you want toyota trucks, sign up on toyotacrawlers.com, great bunch of local guys in a toyota based club.

Right on, thank you! I wish I had the time to wrench that '90, but I need something that I can hop in and drive.

    Much appreciated!

He's right, 3rz is a better motor. Better bottom end especially which is a weak point of the 22re's.

I got my 2002 4wd yota for 4k over this past winter, the deals are out there for those who are patient.

Thanks man. 190k is a bit much for mileage, there are a bunch out there for about the same price with 100-110k on the clock.
