I used to own one of these..."The Gentlemans Express"..fantastic bike, and this example looks to be very clean with some tasteful mods. Uber reliable, pulls like a train, and the triple's with a nice exhaust sound fantastic. Bump for this one!

Gixxer, maintenance for me has been gas tires and oil, of course along with the new chain, sprockets, air filter, and plugs as listed above during my ownership. Also, the forks were serviced last year with fresh oil and new springs. At 24k it will be due for a valve check technically which runs up to about $600 at a dealer. I know plenty of people that have it checked every other time it's due. The bike doesn't make any abnormal noises or exhibit any issues whatsoever besides that it could use a fuel level sender if that really matters. It's a common thing for the early 2000's Sprints which just causes a faulty fuel level low light; I think I've seen it incorrect once every 20 tanks of fuel maybe so if it comes on and I know I just filled up, I just go by the trip odo and start looking for gas around 190 miles and it typically rectifies itself on the next tank. As far as valves, my best friend has 78,6xx miles on his 2002 Sprint ST which he rides more aggressively than I, and has needed two shim changes in it's lifetime. They do hold up quite well.

To me, now having owned it for a couple years, it's a very underrated bike. "The Gentleman's Express" for sure; lak-o-wits summed it up quite well. It has surprised a fair amount of other riders on more modern bikes of various marques. You can't beat the performance, character, and uniqueness. And if you haven't ridden a triple, I'd say you're missing out.

I owned a 2000 Sprint RS for 6 years and 54000 miles. It was perhaps the most reliable and fun bike I've ever owned because I could ride right there with all the sportbikes in the twisties and it still made for a great touring bike when so fitted. Never had any issues with the fuel gauge or the quick-disconnects. Nothing but normal maintenance.

I had a 2000 RS too. Bought it new and put 103,000 miles before I traded it in for an ST. Reliable is an understatement, stranded me once (plastic fuel fittings failed, got the recall notification in the mail a month later) in 11 years. Took it to multiple track days, drag racing (11.94 sec at 112mph was my best), bike weeks at Laconia and Myrtle Beach for years, countless number of day trips with buddys, rode down to Tail of the Dragon/North Georgia...... I LOVED that bike! Don't let any reliability issues steer you away from buying this bike, they are as solid as they come.
