2003 Suzuki SV650 2nd Gen race bike

2003 Suzuki SV650 2nd Gen No title was bought in 04 as salvage with 2,200 miles on it.Set up and raced by previous owner in 06, 07, I bought it and started racing part of 2011, all 2012, and 5 rounds this year so mileage is ? It has been a great bike with no problems until now! The bad news is 3rd gear disappeared? No noise, no lock up, nothing? Just felt like false neutral? Shifts fine, 1,2,nothing, 4 5,6 and back down 5,4,nothing,2,1. Put it on the rear stand and rotated the tire by hand and shifted to listen for any noise, grinding etc and nothing?
The problem is I'm no engine guy and for me to pay someone is more then I want to spend. This would make a great bike for the person who knows engines and can tear into it on their own. It has low mileage, runs strong and is all set up for racing. If you race in LRRS at Loudon then you probably have seen it.

Forgot to mention, the bike is currently in Milton, VT but can be brought down to round 7 LRRS NHMS
Open to reasonable offers, otherwise I will learn more about tearing down an engine and replacing a gear over the winter.

To be honest the bike is still pack in the trailer from last event. Basically knew I was out for the remainder of the year and have had too many others "things" to catch up on.

I have a running engine (I believe 2nd gen!) that would get this beast going, cheap! And a non-running engine that's supposed to go to another Vermonter. Perhaps we can arrange a pickup? PM.

Thanks Scott. from my research it would have to be 03-06 to be a plug and play. Before and after would require some mods that I wouldn't want to do. I do have a interested party in the bike right now so we'll see how it works out. You can PM me with the engine details and "cheap" price if you want just in case.
