$1500 for NESR folks. Truly a solid cheap bike.
2004 Suzuki DL1000 Vstrom. Just broken in at 98k miles (same owner for the first 89k, then me). Well-equipped, well-maintained, and ready to go anywhere.
This thing has always been taken care of (wouldn’t have made it this far if this wasn’t true), and as such all maintenance is up to date. As for add-ons and extras:
- New Werks clutch and basket to eliminate the “chudder” these are known for
- New heated grips
- New Renthal bars and bark busters
- Givi top box
- New stator and re-welded rotor magnets (another common issue)
- Mounts for hard bags
- New chain and sprockets with 17/47 gearing
- Reworked shock
- Redone seat
- New fork seals
- For full asking price it will also come with a set of Shinko knobbies (804/805s) with <500 miles on them, in addition to the street rubber that’s installed
Known issues:
- Battery is getting old. If it’s ridden regularly or on a tender it’s a non-issue, but if it sits for a few weeks it’ll need a jump
- Rear brake MC likely needs a rebuild. It works, just stiff
- Has a “pop” on deceleration. Likely an intake or vacuum leak, but I looked and couldn’t find it. It’s not bad at all, but have to mention it.
I’ve used this bike as my “poor man’s ADV bike”, and as such it’s got some scratches from getting dropped in the mud. It’s completed the NE BDR, as well as the “big bike hard” loop at the Northeast Adventure Rally. Perhaps most treacherous of all, I commute into Boston with it daily.
Clean title in hand. Trades considered for vintage or unique bikes.
