Reduced to move! $3600
I love this bike and hate to sell, but I'm simply not riding it and I'm going through a bit of a purge as my garage and shed are getting madly cluttered with 'projects' and when I start riding more again I'm expecting to need more of a 2-up capable bike.
2007 Aprilia SXV 550 with only 2592 miles
Resealed at ~1800 miles right after I bought it from Mark - replaced every bearing and seal at the time.
Brand new Michelin Pilot Power 3 tires
Adige Slipper Clutch
Evotech/DRC Tail Tidy
Fisher custom seat
12l extended gas tank
New style enduro headlight
G2 Tamer throttle cam for more linear power control
De-restricted
Mirror extenders
Probably a bunch of other stuff that I'm forgetting...
Includes all the original parts (tank, tail, throttle, etc)
Also includes an XV Tuner cable, which are now impossible to buy. Allows uploading different maps and adjusting existing map as well as reading TPS values for setting idle and throttle cables, etc. I'm pretty sure I could get $400-$500 for this alone right now.
Any of the original SRR crew or TTD crew can vouch for my maintenance.
Reasonable offers considered. Please don't make me post to CL. ;-)
Thanks,
Chris

I had one for a while, and was recently thinking it would be awesome to get another one. I've ridden hundreds bikes, and the SXV is easily the most fun bike I've ever ridden.
i had one as well, insanely fun machine! oh, that sound (i had a Silmoto system on it) ... GLWS
Beta 200RR
Thanks guys! It's definitely a fun bike. Part of why I don't want to list on CL is I don't feel at all comfortable letting anybody take it for a test ride.. The thing's a freakin wheelie machine.

Haha, yup! I sold mine to a guy who had only ridden mopeds. It was back on CL in a few weeks with 30 more miles on it. He said it scared him.
I should stop reading this thread

Chris, good luck with the sale of this beast! If I had the extra cash kicking around, I'd buy it back in a heartbeat!
For anyone thinking of buying this, I'm the original owner and bought it new from Seacoast. It's always nice to know the full history of used bikes and this bike has been extremely well cared for.

Reduced to $4100.
I haven't yet. I'm not a particularly motivated seller. ;-) It just kills me to watch it collect dust.
I know nothing about these things but my nephew is looking for something like this. Why did it need to be resealed at such low miles?
Jeff
It was a precautionary measure. The early SXV engines with the orange sealant had a high percentage of the orange sealant failing to keep the cases sealed in certain areas around the water jacket. It resulted in coolant getting into the oil and subsequently the engine bearings and journals getting damaged.
Mark sold it to me because he knew I'd do a good job dealing with the risk. ;-) The winter after I bought it I tore it down and re-sealed it before it had any problems.
Oh, I knew I left out some big upgrade!
It also has an Adige Slipper clutch!

Last drop before winter.. seeing if I can make some space for my winter boat projects.
$3600
Why do you find these threads right after you buy a new truck? I always wanted to put 30 miles on one of these. Even at $120 a mile I'd pull the trigger! Argggg I love wheelies too!!! Too bad its seat height is even higher than a Ducati Supermoto 959 SP. OK I'm out.... WHEW!!!! Saved by the seat height.
Visor Down review (I had to bold one of the lines. Too Funny!!!)
If you know who Christian Iddon or Van Den Bosch is, this bike will need no introduction. Aprilia’s SXV550 is the Ducati 1098R of the supermoto world. When it entered the supermoto scene in 2006, rather than follow the traditional route of a big single cylinder machine Aprilia built a unique (in moto) terms 549cc V-twin. A controversial move, but one that has rewarded the Italian company a whole host of supermoto trophies. This bike is little more than Den Bosch’s race tool on the road, complete with an engine’s service life that is calculated in hours, not miles, and a petrol tank that is designed for 15 lap races, which is barely enough to make the next petrol station. Make no mistake, the SXV is a racer barely masquerading as a road bike, and comes with the accompanying inadequacies.
Which is what you would expect the SXV550 does as well, but this is a supermoto that has been designed from a blank canvas, and it isn’t what you would expect. Single cylinder direct power may be all very well and good on dirtbikes, but supermoto racers require drivability as well. So, faced with a new bike Aprilia’s engineers came up with a new engine, an ultra compact V-twin that is remarkably smooth to ride.
Looking at the SXV550 you imagine it will bite your head off, smother your daughter with semen then leave her sobbing in the corner. But although its 2008 sticker-scheme is anything but pretty, underneath the bike oozes class and sophistication. Everything about this bike is designed to make it easier for the chosen rider to win his race.
Send cash... I need a track day
What kind of range do you get out of a 12L tank?

I'm a total Aprilia fanboy and have always wanted to put one of these in my stable for s's and g's, certainly at this price which is so enticing. Looks like a fine example. But I know deep down my want for a city commuter that doesn't require much upkeep would make me regret it...
