*SOLD* 2009 Kawasaki KLR650, bought new in 2011.

*SOLD* Selling my ’09 Kawasaki KLR650, all good, many extras, $3500 (forum-in-winter January price). *SOLD*

I bought it new in March 2011, so it’s more like a 4-year old bike than a 6-year old bike. I really enjoy riding it, but I have some others on the road, and I'm thinking about getting a smaller dedicated trail bike. Bought from Nault’s in Windham NH, and my adopted dealer is Souhegan Valley Motorsports (SVM) in Milford NH, great people at SVM, I go there for parts, accessories, and good all-around advice from Scott and others.

When I first got the bike, I changed the oil and filter after my first ride of 92 miles, then again at 600 miles. Bike now has 12,661 miles, frequent oil and filter changes, now running Rotella T-6 full synthetic with K&N oil filter. Well-maintained and ridden conservatively by old guy with decades of bike experience.

    What it’s got:

    Progressive front fork springs
    Ricor Intiminator drop-in fork valves
    Dyna-Jet Stage 1 carb kit & mod
    K&N washable air filter element
Big Crank AGM sealed battery with battery tender leads
Happy Trail magnetic oil drain plug drilled for safety wire.
Happy Trail OSR rear side racks
Happy Trail billet rear brake bits
    Happy Trail sub-frame bolt kit
    SS brake lines
    Seat Concepts seat
    TechSpec knee grips
    ProGrip hand grips
    ZG taller dark wind shield
    Rox bar risers/adapters
ProTaper Contour bar (tapered bar 1 & 1/8” at clamps)
Triumph mirrors you can actually see with
Hella Twin Super Tone horns (118db) wired with relay
Happy Trail LED tail lamp with rapid flashing stop light
PIAA Extreme white H7 headlight bulbs
    Oxford Micro Clock & Temp
    Moose Racing lowering links (1”)
Moose Racing SS "Hybrid" foot pegs
2 side stands (stock shortened, and SW Moto Tech)
Shinko 705 "Dual Sport" tires (new rear in 2014 + tube & rim strip, balanced of course)
    +1 front sprocket

All stock parts included, tires, tool kit, owner's handbook, and receipts (I might add up what I spent on this list, but I'm not sure I want to know.).
Extra gallon of Rotella T6 included, extra K&N oil filter, and 2 quarts of AmsOil 5W synthetic fork oil (as called for by Ricor, ATF in there now.)

The bike is pretty much set up for the road, the gearing is perfect for me, the carb mod really fattens up the low end and mid-range, while still giving 50+ MPG. On the highway I rarely go past 65mph, and the motor isn’t straining at all, like under 4500rpm. The fork mods and bars really make the handling feel solid, nice solid brake action with the SS lines, and the Seat Concepts seat is terrific, wider, flatter, firmer than stock.

I rode the TMT last summer, the tires and gearing were fine. Then a group ride in and around Rutland State Forest was great tll I washed out the front on a sand and gravel rutted road, which made for a low-speed dump resulting in some scrapes on the right side of the fairing, nothing broke on the bike (or me). So it’s fine the way it's set up now for pavement and fairly smooth unpaved roads, but for real trail work, I’d recommend dropping the gearing back to stock or lower, and putting the stock tires back on, or more aggressive tires. The leader (Leon) of that ride in Rutland was also on a KLR, but with lower gearing, full knobbies, and more skill.

You need a bike like this for New England's paved roads come spring with frost heaves, potholes, and buckled pavement. Or ride it now for that matter, I have used it as my year-round, all-weather bike. Love the 6-gallon tank, gives you a 300-mile range.

Clear MA title in my name in hand.

Forum-in-winter price: $3500 takes it all.

I started it up this morning, everything works, took fresh pics. (Luggage straps not included.)

    Thanks for looking,

    Kurt

Thanks, everyone. I was planning to wait til spring to put it up for sale, but decided to post it now since a lot of people start looking for their spring bikes in January, I know I do

I've ridden the bike through the past three winters trying to get it dirty, but it stayed pretty shiny.

Stopping for the view in Princeton MA (luggage not included in sale.)

Re: 2009 Kawasaki KLR650, bought new in 2011.

So I went ahead and added up what I paid for the "many extras" as listed in my first post, comes to $1,924.69 -- it does add up, but, hey, in for a dime, in for a dollar.

My plan is to keep it listed this way for a while, with all these extras included, the forum-in-winter January deal. Bike is in the garage out of the elements, on the battery tender. At some point before spring if it hasn't sold, I will start removing some of the extras and sell them off, but price for the bike will not go below $3500, it might even go up depending on the market.

So that's the winter deal for January, an excellent bike at $250 lower than KBB retail, with $2K of good stuff included. If anyone seriously interested wants to come by and see it, we can start it up, flash the lights, blow the horns, and so on.

    Thanks for looking ...

Sent a link to someone from Arlington who is looking for a bike like this. Hope it works out. Very nicely set up - already have a DR650 otherwise would be looking at your bike.

Thanks, Kenn, yes, new pricing strategy -- $1.03 per view seems to be the going rate.
