This is still a good tv to use in those places a mentioned. We have a 32" in our basement in the "workout" area.

230 lbs? Your tv has 80lbs on me! I think all 4 my tvs and my computer and laptop combined weigh less! That is def an anti theft feature!

Yup, set weighs a ton. I cannot move it myself. This isn't one of those I should not move it myself, it is a I cannot move it myself.
Still don't fully understand why we had to replace it. But then, I'm just not in charge of somethings. Would really suck if this were to wind up at the dump. I even have the remote!
still trying to get a ride.. Have a Hockey game tonight, if I can con my roommate into a ride I'll come get it tommorrow, just didn't want to hold someone up who would have got it gone already.

One of these was my last tube style tv's. Awesome set, but super heavy.

More like twice that. These were really top of the line. I had the 40" XBR version and it must have cost 3k and been close to the weight of my CBR1K. I gave that away because of the fear of having to move it again!

Back when I was in high school, I worked on the loading dock of a big department store. One of our jobs was to load large electronic items into customer vehicles.
I'll never forget the guy who bought a huge projection TV, much bigger than this thing, and then showed up at the loading dock with a Corvette.
BTW I have the 32" predecessor of this TV (last one before HD). It's on the second floor of my house. I have not upgraded to HD simply because I dread moving it so much.
