While I figure out what I'm doing for racing next year, I'm curious if I can leverage my practice mount to help move a new project along?
2003 Yamaha R6, Stock save for the following:
- Power Commander 3, not hooked up but updated with the last firmware available (including accelerator pump emulation) and I believe I have a shift rod with a quick shift sensor
- Cold start air bleeds defeated, coolant hoses looped (Makes getting the throttle bodies on/off easier, doesn't seem to impact operation)
- 05 pressure regulator on 03 throttle body rack, have slide stops but have not installed
- AIS blockoff plates installed
- Scotts steering damper
- Penske shock, fork caps are not OEM R6 so dunno what's in there other than sporting old GMD stickers
- Superbike tail on stock subframe, I have the OEM seat too I believe... undertail piece does not fit with tail in high position
- Unknown brand fairings
- Tank is primer, pump rebuilt
- 3rd gen R6 radial front brake master
- Woodcraft rearsets, clipons, lots of spare levers
- Geared for NHMS (-1 front, +2 rear)
- Unknown accurate milage count, currently says 14.5k, no paperwork for the bike
- Injectors professionally cleaned and matched last year
- Ballistic lithium batt
- Woodcraft key eliminator, not installed
The bike needs a good dyno tuning/mapping, stock ECU plus the later pressure regulator means it's a bit fat. The suspension should be opened up and refreshed, I've not done so yet since getting it. Kates says it's straight though, and does have early history on it as it started it's racing life up here.
Other than that, it starts and goes beautifully, brakes work mint. I've run 22s on it, and the bike was not even trying. No idea what it's capable of, but doesn't feel much down on power compared to other supersport middleweights, I just have no idea how to ride it. For track day duty it's got a wide usable RPM range, never felt twitchy/unstable to me.
In the spares bin I've got an 05 throttle body rack if you want a bit more top end, ugly rashed up bodywork, a set of wheels that need some TLC (sprocket carrier needs a stud, front wheel has some rash on the lip) and a few other odds and ends.
$2500?
