Cycle Shell Portable Garage, "Sport" Size 60"

I used this thing for two season to store my Aprilia Mille a number of years ago. Then a friend offered me free storage space in his garage. Since then, the shell has been sitting in my attic.

For those that are not familiar, the Cycle Shell is a lockable outside storage keeps the bike out of the elements and off the ground. It worked great through two seasons. It’s really amazing how well these things hold up in the snow. For more details about the Cycle Shell, check out the following link for details: Cycle Shell

While I got most of the dust/dirt off with warm soapy water yesterday, the shell still could use a more thorough washing. In the pictures below, you can see that the silver coloring has slight sun fade on the top left side (or right side depending on how you look at it).

I also have the two original kickstand plates (see pictures below) that came with the shell.

The reason for the sale: I’ve kept the shell in the hopes that someday I would buy another sportbike or motard for the street. Through therapy (i.e., my wife beating me about the head with blunt instruments), I’ve come to the realization that that’s not going to happen any time soon.

    Pictures: See below.

Location: Southwestern Connecticut. I will be up at Loudon for this coming the race weekend, September 1st & 2nd. I will also be attending the October 6th & 7th weekend.

Delivery Help: I am more than willing to help with delivery for those who live within a reasonable distance away. Meeting half way is usually what I’ve done before. To avoid having to drive some distance for someone who is only going to kick the tires and not buy, I require an advance payment to cover my gas to and from the meeting point. The amount of the advance payment will depend on the distance needed to be driven. If you don’t buy, then at least I’m not out gas money. I really don’t think it would be worthwhile to ship, but that would be your call and your dime.

Price: $225 obo. New these sell for $325, plus shipping (which, if memory serves, is a little more than pocket change). Others have listed and sold here for $250. I figure this is a fair price.

Oh man, I'd love to have this for my bike, but I live in the South End of Boston and I think the cagers would just park on top of it when not in use. GLWS.

Do you use this in the winter outside?

Yes. I just cut and pasted this directly from Cycle Shell's own website:

The unique frame design withstands the most demanding outdoor elements, including high winds and snow. Two ventilation panels help air circulate and keep moisture out. Locking capability deters tampering.
Again, it’s really amazing how well these things hold up in the snow.

I was really on the fence about selling this ... you guys aren't helping me any....

It's much more rugged than a tent of the same design. The suspension wands supporting the fabric are heavy duty and don't flex like conventional tent wands/poles do.

Long time ... what up homie?!?! Saw those vids of the trails up there at Château Kitt. Sweet dude! Without a doubt, I'd pull a Gaborio three turns in. You visiting NHMS any time soon?

He's correct, the poles are metal rods and are very sturdy, the fabric is also very sturdy. I have not used it over the winter since I bought it this spring but the guy I bought it from used it in downtown Boston during the snow and siad it worked great.

I was even able to use my front and rear stands to take off the front forks while they were getting serviced and it still fit under it.

Just to confirm for those "tire kickers" out there ... I've made space in the trailer, so the Cycle Shell will be up at Loudon for this coming the race weekend (September 1st & 2nd) for your viewing pleasure.

Another great feature...it folds in half for easy storage and transportation. It's not light...but it's very portable and sturdy when moved.

    Still have the shell.

Didn't push hard to sell; thought I'd just use it in the near future. A year later and I still haven't used it. Someone jogged my memory of this post so I figured I'd give it a bump in case anybody has a need as we head into another winter season.
