**SOLD!!**
Hey folks,
Haven't been on here for a while...
I decided to put the SV back on the market - gauge interest - etc. I have been mountain biking the past couple years so I drive my WRX quite a bit. I'm also getting married (aka wallet drain) in September '14. I currently have 4 registered vehicles. Not really hurting for cash, just seems a bit ridiculous to insure/register/maintain/inspect/store the SV when I am not riding it frequently. It's a great bike, I just am too tied up in other things right now to give it proper thrashings regularly (it likes it).
Some history:
It has never been dropped and has some decent mods and extras which make this bike a pretty solid buy. As far as I know the bike has had three owners, me included. Originally purchased at Land & Air in (Winooski, Colchester?) VT. I have the title. Has approximately 17,1xx miles. It is fully faired, as all SV1000S's were after 2005 (I believe). The bike runs smooth, starts well and pulls like a freight train. Oil always changed around the 3000 mi interval mark w/ Castrol Racing 4T Ti. Did the valvetrain check shortly after 13000mi (my detailed notes are at home). Daily'd the bike for about 4 years, mostly 'round town. I have made some longer trips to Maine, NY, Laconia, etc. Did a 7 hour trip to Bangor from Plattsburgh once. Can't say I felt like running a marathon after but the trip was fine. Added the Givi tail hard luggage last year (2013), which is fantastic for quick trips - even grocery getting - no more backpack! I've been camping with a sleeping bag, tent, supplies - I've even put my truck's new rotors in there - instant wheelie machine!! Plowed a little on turns...
Let me just say that over the past 4 years the bike has become an extension of my body and vice versa. It's clunky in some areas, but I've learned to ride around it's shortcomings and extract every ounce of fun there is to be had from that bike. It sounds damn amazing and every time I ride it I am rewarded with crisp rev matching and barks of the Yoshi pipes. Mid' corner downshifts? Send it Richard. Is your base level comfortable corner entry speed is at least twice the corner speed limit? Go for it. What if you like to accelerate out of said corner in the lowest gear possible for maximum smiles? Pin it to win it in 10.8 secs. It's a beautiful thing , riding in a sport bike frame with a v-twin between your legs.
Extras:
"SV" Tank pad
Zero Gravity DB smoke windscreen
Yoshimura Carbon RS3 aftermarket pipes
Sharealike clutch basket mod (lessens/solves vibration problem from the "Back torque limiting clutch damper" with bronze sleeve around bore and hardened steel screws [see pic])
Switchable TRE (Timing retard eliminator - just google it)
Speedohealer V3
Heli Riser bars, Clip-on (+2")
Fender eliminator
Michelin Pilot 2CT front tire, Pilot Road 2 Rear
Solo seat cover
Rear wheel hugger/fender
Dinky J bracket Frame Sliders - DOUBT they would hold up from a high speed crash but whatever
Givi 45 ltr Tail Hard Luggage
Pitbull rear stand
Still has the original toolkit/tookit box, decent space under passenger seat, forks have preload/damping adjustment knobs
I still have original clip-ons and stock pipes.
The solo cover has some scratches and the tank has a small small dent. Small scratches here and there from wear and tear.
That's about it.
Pics are from when I bought it. The HPX front and rear tires are now Pilot Powers.
I will consider all offers. Bought 2010 for $5500 with 4200 mi. Still (for some reason) blue books for about $4,500 (w/pipes+risers).
Asking $3300. Serious inquiries only please.
