For Sale or Trade: 2000 Suzuki TL1000R

Well after the first few weeks of the riding season, it has become more and more evident that although another TLR is the bike I've been lusting after for the past 4 years, the riding position is something that my fucked up shoulder simply can not handle. First two weekends riding I simply ignored the pain and the perma-grin from being back on a bike helped greatly in putting it out of my mind but this past weekend really knocked me back to reality. FUCK. I absolutely love this bike but I want to be able to ride a full day without going home and having to ice my shoulder and drop 1k mg of ibuprofin.

This is a FOR TRADE only feeler. I have no interest in selling and then wasting another 1-2 months searching for a new bike.

Interested in trades for a cruiser(HD or Victory) or sale, $4,000/obo

How about trying Gilles Variobars for a higher riding position first? Just a thought.........

Coming up 1-2 inches isn't going to fix my problem. Until I eventually go under the knife for this it looks like I'm either going to be getting off of a full-on sportbike or riding with constant pain.

Left shoulder. Dislocated 3-4 times in the past year, toss a few less severe hyperextensions in over that time period. Every time it's taking longer and longer to recover from, and easier to injure. The last one was back in the second week of March in a very minor snowboard fall and it still hasn't returned to 100%.

Re: FEELER, FOR TRADE ONLY: 2000 Suzuki TL1000R

Any interest in a 2003 SV1000S? A bit more upright that the TL1000R, and as I am sure you already know, has pretty much the same motor with a bit more midrange and less top end.
-Dale Walker holeshot High mount exhaust
-new fork seals last fall with fresh fluid
    -new front pads
1 down in the front, 2 up in the rear sprockets
    pazzo knockoffs
new front and rear turn signals
    K&N air filter
new dunlop Q'2s with less that 300 miles on them
    zx-10 rear shock recently installed
Odometer reads roughly 42000, but I am guessing it is more like 35,000 due to the sprocket changes. Bike runs and rides great, with absolutely no problems whatsoever. I am really in the market for another Buell, but I always wanted a TLR ever since they came out back in the day. Here is a link to my add on CL with 4 pictures

Thanks for the offer. I'm thinking a full on upright bike such as a Tuono/Speed3(not likely happening for what the TLR is worth), Z1000, ZRX, and I've even been kicking around the idea of trying to trade for a Sporty 1200 to build into something interesting.

Man, whatever you do do NOT ride my ZRX, it'll spoil every other one out there. That said, highly, HIGHLY recommend that bike. It is simply incredibly comfortable, at any speed (esp. in town / commuting, the motor is like an electric with smooth power right off idle) and with some good shocks and fork magic it feels and rides like a modern sportbike when you want.

Also, WHEN you decide to fix your shoulder... give me a call. 17 dislocations, 2 prior surgeries and not until my last (3rd) surgery did it get fixed properly, and properly meaning so you can get BACK to contact sports, etc. that put stress on the shoulder. Can't recommend my doc highly enough.

Yea that's my fear right now.... getting the surgery and coming out with it feeling the same if not worse.

Seriously, hit me up sometime. My first two surgeries I came back feeling 100% only to re-dislocate and get back to square one. The surgery I had the 3rd time is meant to get repeat-dislocators back to full contact sports. Thusfar it worked, through hockey and at least 1 lowside on the track. I would probably be neither playing hockey nor track riding if I hadn't gotten back to feeling like it was sorted. The last one was also the least painful to recover from as there was minimal soft tissue work done. IIRC after a few weeks I was out of the sling. Either way and regardless of what ends up happening, PT is the key to getting back to where you need to be.

I'll definitely be in touch. What was the recovery timeframe like?

Re: FEELER, FOR TRADE ONLY: 2000 Suzuki TL1000R

The first two surgeries were extremely painful and slow because it was all soft tissue stuff and you have to wait for it to all start growing again before you push it. The last one is literally using a bone as a steering stop for your shoulder:

    Johnny,

Aww that stinks man considering you just got her out on the road! Good luck finding a new ride. I wanted to respond to your thread because I saw you mentioned Z1000 in your OP as a possible option. I happen to have a 2012 Z1000 (not looking to get rid of it) but if you have questions about the Z, let me know!

    Sargent seat
    Helibar-risers
    29K miles
    great shape

Nice bike. I might be interested in checking it out. I'll think about it and be in touch. Still weighing my options and trying to figure out what direction to go

Johnny, I'll vouch for that VFR. I've ridden it, trailered it, and Dave's a good guy. That pic is from our Deals Gap trip last year.

VFR800's one of the most underrated all-rounders ever. Needs some suspension work and they are great bikes.

I have a 1988 Yamaha venture "Royale" with 62k on it. Comes with a roller chassis and engine spare parts bike. It's old and has been ridden hard ad put away wet. It's got the Vmax v4 1300cc engine. This thing is scary fast for 865lbs. It does pisser burnouts and will do poppa whillies in first gear. Custom aftermarket fog lamps. Bald tires. Original oil. Adult owned garaged
