[FREE] Need to rehome my 2 1 year old amazing cats!

I sadly have to rehome my 2 cats as a very bad allergic reaction to them has kicked in for me. They are the sweetest boys who love to cuddle. They do not scratch or bite furniture, people or pets.

I have a cat condo, litter box and food that will go with them.

    The details on them are:
    2 boys, bonded pair
    Both 1 yr old
    Neutered
Up to date on shots (have their vet records on hand)
    Great with kids
    Good with other cats
Good with dogs (they pretty much ignore my dog except for when they beat her up )

I am located in Framingham, MA and willing to transport within a reasonable distance.

I do need to get them rehomed quickly as I am on steroids and an inhaler right now so I can breathe while they are still with me.

I do have a foster option available if I can't find anyone, but I would love to get them into their forever home!

Their current names are Grayson and Oatmeal, but they would likely answer to anything !

I can mention it to a friend. They were looking for one. Can they go outside in a suburban setting?

They are indoor cats and have never been inside so I don’t think I would recommend it.

    Thanks

    The Dudes Abide.

We brought them inside, put the crates in a room for about 30 minutes, then opened the doors. They both immediately headed under the bed. Very normal from my experience. They have water and the litter box, and we check on them every hour or two. Don’t think we will see much of them for a day or two.

When I brought mine home I sectioned off the house. As she got more comfortable I opened up more of it for her to explore.

Re: [FREE] Need to rehome my 2 1 year old amazing cats!

We read up on the process. We've put them in a quiet room with lots of hiding spaces along with their litter box, food and water.

My daughter hung out for a while there and they moved around a little, but still hid from her. From reading and talking to others it often takes 2-3 days. Last cat we took in hid for a day, observed for a day, then started exploring after that.

We are on "Cat time" now....Many thanks to Jewcati for thinking of us: my daughters are over the moon.

So the boys are eating, drinking, eliminating, and exploring a little. Still hiding out when we check on them.

Re: [FREE] Need to rehome my 2 1 year old amazing cats!

Monday update. We can hear them exploring the room, but when we come in hear a “thump thump” and they go back under the bed. They are eating more and drinking plenty of water.

Think it will be another 2-3 days before they start interacting with us. No real surprise, cats do what they want when they want, and hanging out with humans might affect their nap schedules....

Re: [FREE] Need to rehome my 2 1 year old amazing cats!

This was truly a lesson in “Cats gonna cat.”

For the first week they pretty much hid in the room we started them in. For the next week or two, they started hiding elsewhere (mostly the basement) and would mostly come out at night.

At this moment a month later both of them are lying on the bed, half awake. They seek out my daughter and I a few times a day and sound off if they are out of food. So think they’ve now fully acclimated: which is good as we have to take them for Rabies booster soon!

Thanks again to Jewcati and his family!

Re: [FREE] Need to rehome my 2 1 year old amazing cats!

So cute! I read the title and was hoping I wouldn’t click through and find they ended up at a shelter. Not disappointed!

We got two shelter cats last year and one of them hid under the bed for almost a month. Her life after that has been a total roller coaster. She settled right in until a few months later she ran out the front door and disappeared. Months of searching, putting up signs, and nearly out of hope I put up a trail cam and discovered her alive and well sneaking across our property at night. Eventually ended up building her a small house, leaving out food, and slowly luring her back to our house, but she spent the entire winter out there. This spring she was finally coming back every night, spending many days lounging in the yard, and finally got her to come inside a handful of times to eat.. but she’d panic every time we closed the door so we reluctantly let her come and go for a few weeks. She finally started to warm up to being inside but wasn’t quite ready to stay in.

Then one day she just didn’t show up in the morning. We got kinda worried, then after an entire day we got REALLY worried. Started asking neighbors and searching around, and luckily one neighbor heard something under their porch. Discovered she had been hit by a car, shattered her pelvis, somehow dragged herself back to our property and hid under their porch. We estimate she was there for at least 13-14 hours, and was quite literally clinging to life by a thread. Rushed her to the emergency vet at midnight, and the vet basically told us she had nearly no chance of surviving. Thankfully at the last moment we decided to take that tiny chance rather than do the “humane thing”, and kept her in the ER for 24 hours. Well, she rallied like hell and her temperature and vitals stabilized, so we took her home two days later. Six weeks in a dog crate, being fed meds & powdered foods with a syringe, slowly nursing her back to life.

Frigging miracle cat healed up 100%, and aside from a rather crooked butt she’s as normal as can be. And now, finally, totally content with indoor cat life!

They’re doing great. My daughter is in college so I send her pics and video. In the “How Millenial is it” category she has a group chat of friends she forwards them to: college students are largely pet-deprived.

Coyotes solve the cat problem. That's why we have indoor cats now: our outdoor cats joined the food chain...

    Cats are too damned funny.

Walked downstairs for coffee this morning and the two of them run down the stairs and chase each other around the dining room for two laps.

Then - boom - time for a break. They both lie down on the carpet for a nap.

A new puss might be in our very near future too.

I had put my foot down that we weren’t getting another until our current elderly kitty passes, but mama hit me up in a moment of who knows what and I said “sure”.

Still glad to hear yours are doing well, Dana. A pic or three wouldn’t kill us every now and again. Wink.

Re: [FREE] Need to rehome my 2 1 year old amazing cats!

I'm SO not a cat guy. Really hate 'em in fact. However, once the dog kicks we're gonna need a cat or two. Since their cat died the mices have made a comeback.

We can't have a cat while the dog is still around. It was a TOTAL pain in the ass when the cat was alive because we'd have to keep her away from the dog. This meant confining her to a bedroom while the dog was out & about and crating the dog to let the cat roam, eat & do her thing. It SUCKED. But she was a micer for sure and kept the populace under check during her reign.

Glad the vermin found a good home.
