flatspots are a thing of the past. Seriously.

Do you ever hear any complaints from the people that ride their bikes 500 miles a year? No. Do you think those types of riders have stands? Seriously doubt it. Of course there is the argument that those people probably wouldn't know a squared off, worn to the cords, brick of a tire if it slapped em in the face, but i doubt they wouldn't notice a "thump thump thump thump" of a tire w/ a bit flatspot on it.

But if you ask me, I have 4 bikes... only two rearstands & one front stand. Don't bother doing the math, you might hurt yourself... instead I'll just tell you that not all my bikes get put on rearstands

yes, they're invaluable for when you have to do any work on your own bikes and it makes tire changes cheaper if you can bring in just the rims.

I have fr/rr Vortex stands (steering stem for front, spools for rear), I like them. Solid & build quality is good. Only thing worth noting is that the front stand takes a bit of grunt to lift...leverage point seems a bit off (like the stand is 1"-1.5" too tall at the lowest position).

do you already know about the cheap stands by handy industries?

it's $89.99 + s&h for both front and rear stands

    Handy Industries Online Store

I have them, and they get the job done, but the front stand can't be used independently

Get either Pitbull or woodcrafts. I have extensive experience with both and they are both top of the line. I have a set of pitbulls in my garage that have done no wrong and we have multiple sets of woodcrafts at the shop. There are slight differences in the two. The pitbull ss stand can be switched easily from spool style to pad style. I dont believe woodcraft makes a stand that does both. The pin on the woodcraft front stand is very easy to swap. I love that feature.

The other cheaper sets I would stay away from. Ive heard too many horror stories of bikes falling off them with a slight nudge. The pitbulls and woodcraft stands are very stable. Ive bumped my bike pretty hard while it was up on the stands and it didnt budge.

Do you have spools on you bike? If not get somes. Dont dick around with the pad style stands. You bike is more stable with the spools. For a front stand get one that picks up from under the triple. Its much more stable then the crap the picks up from under the fork leg and you can do more work to you bike like pulling the forks off.

Also I have yet to see a front stand that can be used without a rear stand.

Plus like Pete said, PK can get you a deal for probably the same price as those other ones. The best part is that it will help the locals
Woodcraft for fronts, pitbull for rears.

just put my bike on the lifts tonight. rear stands were a piece of cake. the front one was a bit tricky, and cracked the nose a bit trying to lift the bike. still glad i didnt get the fork lift though.

so what is the big difference between spool and pad stand? From what I understand the spools are more expensive. Should I go with the spool instead or does it matter?

i think they're the same price, but spools are much better. i dont think anyone here will recommend not getting the spooled stand for the rear. spools are small pegs that screw into the swingarm. Usually like $20 for a set
