I've spoken my piece to Doc... but I will address this comment...
Really? You generally get the cash out, find time to meet, do a bill of sale, etc in about 12 hours of expressing interest in the item you want to buy? BS. I didn't even get out of work till 5pm, and Doc posted he sold it before 8pm.... less than 12hrs after he bought it, and about 8hrs after he asked me if a cash sale was cool. I highly doubt you fork over cash immediately after telling somebody you are interested in the item they are selling. The bike wasn't even in Doc's possesion... give me a break.
Cash wasn't the issue... if Doc would have said, "whoever comes up with the cash first gets it" there wouldn't be a problem. So this isn't about "flaking out".
Really?? Bad argument again. Doc had already posted that he bought it for that very reason. To sell it to somebody else, OR to hold onto it so he could sell it for a profit in the Spring, OR to hold onto it to use as a rental.
I don't think asking for 24hrs for me to clear it with the wife was taking "the chance of having to hold on to something".
Right... good choice of the word "snooze"...
This was about selling it to one person over another.... which Doc is saying happened to be a mis-communication between "a quick sale" and a "whoever gives me the cash first" sale. IMO he wanted to sell it to his friend John instead of me. so what? that is his prerogative, and he has the right to do so. I would rather that be the case... it's more believable.
