FS: $800 Cool Sports 200cc Dual Sport

UPDATE: Paul says he is willing to trade for a childs dirt bike.

Not mine. Belongs to Paul at Motomarket in Acton. If you have been by there you may have seen it parked outside. Bike is a 200cc chinese made Honda GY6 clone. The engine starts and runs fine and the bike is in very clean condition. It is a 2008 model and has next to nothing for milage (i think it is like 1000km or something). I will answer some of the inevitable questions in advance

    How fast does it go?

Probably around 50mph. It's not a sport bike, doesn't pretend to be. Even though it is a 200, it is a 4 stroke and doesn't make that much horsepower. However it is a blast to ride up to the top speed

    Aren't Chinese bikes POS?

Their quality control is not up to honda spec but if you just look at the obvious things (ie: nuts and bolts tightened, rear wheel alignment) they will run for a long time.

    Does it run?

Hell ya! Runs and drives fine. See attached video of paul starting it up to see it run.

Why is he selling so cheap?

Its Chinese. They were cheap to begin with

Will he take 500 for it?

Most likely no. It is OBO but I dont think there is a lot of room to move here.

Mass RMV is a bunch of D-Bags, can I register it in MA?

Yup. Got a plate on it right now

Any more questions feel free to ask me. PM me if you are interested or just stop by motomarket and tell Paul you saw it on NESR

So, a little more detail on this bike, it's not a GY6 style motor. It actually has a lot more in common with the Honda old XL185. Mild state of tune but reliable as long as you keep after basic maint, and do NOT overrev them. It's a pushrod motor so it doesn't reward trips past 9k for extended runs. No real power there anyways so stop treating it like an inline four and use the fat midrange.

If you want it to go faster, you can swap in an OHC engine, and hotrod the piss out of it if you don't mind tossing some reliability/longevity out the window.

Thanks! i was basing my knowledge off of my 125/150cc GY6 experience. I was assuming the 200 was in the same family. For $800 though you can not go wrong...

Agreed, if I wasn't already in hock building a race bike I'd be all over it as a trainer mount for all my friends that want to learn to ride. And I'd hooligan it up on it when they weren't around.

If I didn't just buy an iPad the other day this would be hiding in the garage as an xmas gift for the gf to learn on. Damn. GLWS, Paul is a stand up guy.

OP: that bow was ABSOLUTELY necessary. Nice touch.

1.) how the F do you know this stuff?

2.) how the F do you know exactly how to describe it so I'd understand what you're saying? I had an XL250, so I vaguely remember what you mean by that fat mid-range...got bless the "not so good, not so bad" nature of pushrod...

I have a TTR125, 2001 I think if he's interested. It needs front wheel bearings and a clutch.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?
