FS or FT: 2004 KDX200 (Street Legal) + Spares

    Bike for sale:

    • 2004 Kawasaki KDX200. STREET LEGAL - has clear MA road title with previous registration (I don't have a copy) and previous inspection (I have a copy).
    • BAJA designs kit with headlight, tail light, break light switch, turn signals, hi/lo, kill switch
    • High output lighting coil
    • Trailtech Vector computer wired into lighting coil so no battery replacements needed - ODO, Speedo, Trip, coolant temp sensor (coolant sensor not connected but provided). Calibrated and verified to be 98% accurate.
    • FMF gnarly pipe
    • Hand guards / bark busters
    • 13T front sprocket and 15T front sprocket (rear is 47)
    • V-Force reed cage
    • Dunlop 756s with rim locks
    • UHD tubes
    • Front shocks with XR400 springs
    • Rear sprung for 165-170 lb rider (comes with a spare rear shock - see below)
    • Skid plate
    • Stock rear fender tool bag with stock spark plug wrench

Spares that come with the bike:

    • Spare seat. Green seat in the pic is shaved down an inch, black is stock.
    • Kouba links suspension dog bones - currently on and setup for 1" lower than stock. With a bit of dicking around with the rear pre-load, I think there is another inch to be had. Bike also comes with stock links.
    • Stock pipe
    • Spare set of plastics
    • Spare rear shock (stock spring rate)
    • Spare set of wheels
    • Spare tires - one road tire, one ice tire. Both rear, I think.
    • Spare odds and ends - brake rotor, brake pads etc.
    • Spare electrnoic ignition (don't know much about this one, comes with paperwork)
    • 6x NGK spark plugs
    • Quarter gallon of Klotz 2 stroke oil
    • Maybe more, I need to look closely at what Greg gave me with the bike.

    Back story:

I bought this bike from a NESR member in early December. Put about 200 enjoyable miles on it so far. I love the bike, its tiny, light, nimble, makes LOTS of power with the current state of tune, and fits me.

However, I am prepping for a Trans Labrador Highway trip next season and this bike averages 26-27 MPG under spirited DS riding (35 under normal conditions). I need a bike that does AT LEAST 45 MPG for our trip calculations on fuel-on-board/extra fuel to work. I know it is silly to sell a great woods bike because it doesn't do long distance trips, but I have dreamed of the Trans Lab trip for many years and I need a bike that can do that. Don't have time or room for 3 bikes, so I really need a 4-stroke DS bike capable of more MPG.

Asking $1500 cash for everything. Or willing to trade up for your 4 stroke, 40+ MPG, 250-400cc street-legal dirt bike (A plated DRZ400E or similar would be ideal). Please PM if there is any interest.

This is a no brainer for $1500.
Glws, have fun on the trip.
(I think you're looking for a dr650, a solid, reliable pig of a bike you can ride x-country)

Thanks. I am looking for a DRZ400E or a KLX250. I only have room for one DS bike and I want to be able to do trails with it. A 650 is too big and heavy for me. I'd ride this 200 across country with no problem, if it did better on fuel.

Oh, well, in that case Shawn's wr is the way to go. The klx is a cool little bike but it feels like a toy, the ergos are really weird. That wr with some gearing (for the trip) and a reznaco would be my choice over a drz any day (as a former drz owner, the E version)
