I am the second owner of this Silver 2002 Suzuki 1200S and here are the details:

Is this one of the oil burners? Have you checked your VIN?

I believe it is not one of the oil burners.

For those who do not know:

Suzuki made a mistake of drilling the oil ports at the piston rings too large(if I remember right) for a certain product lot of these motors. The result would be the bikes would burn a small amount of oil when running. I am not sure if a recall was sent out or not.

I'll see if I can pull up the info on which VINs are affected and then see if my bike's VIN matches. I'm pretty sure it does not, but I'll check.

Did the VIN check and mine is potentially a burner:

If your VIN is under 2179 (JS1GV77A*22102179) it's potentially a burner.

Mine ends in 1956.

The key phrase is potentially, not all 2002s were before the serial number were oil burners.

I can attest that the Bandit is a strong, reliable bike and if I didn't already have one in my garage, I'd be all over it.

the reason I am selling the bandit is 2 fold.

1) I have 4 bikes and it hardly gets ridden.

2) I bought it for my daily 90 mile commute which has changed to a 3 mile daily commute due to moving.

She needs a good home where someone will ride her much more than me.

Sorry to hear.

The sad part? I bought my '03 in '06 with 2,600 miles on the clock, a bunch of extras, for the grand sum of $4,500.00. They're great bikes, you can embarrass 90% of the sport riders with one but, you will never get the value of one when you sell.
