These non-pedal bikes are the shit! We got our boy a Stryder years ago and he was on a full-fledged mountain bike when he was five. I wish they were around when my two girls were growing up. Now at the 11, he's known around the neighborhood and campgrounds we go to as "the crazy kid that rides wheelies everywhere and jumps everything". WELL worth it!

    that's awesome

yes, balance bikes are the way to go. this one is super nice in that it's featherweight (aluminum) and has no sharp points for the micros to get gashed up on. i started both boys at 2 years old on a smaller balance bike than this one but this puppy is what they really learned to fly on. pedals came easy once we moved to the 12" Specialized i have up for sale.

the 5 year old now rides an 18" Stolen BMX and the 4 year old a 16" Early Rider Belter Trail (sick bike). they both also ride motorcycles (PW50 + Oset Trials). getting them hooked on the balance bikes at such a young age was key. we built skills from there.

heartbreaking to see kids their age (or older!) in the neighborhood riding with training wheels on. fuck that CRUTCH

BINGO! My boy was on his 4-wheeler about the same time he hit the mountain bike - around 5. Little something-or-other dirt bike a couple years later.
