I have two broken snowblowers for free. Both engines are good and have been run as recently as 3 months ago.
First up --- 7hp Craftsmen is older than dirt but the motor is very good. What killed it was a tire chain fell off and I didn't notice it until I turned around to make a pass and that's when the auger pulled the chain in which ended up splitting the gear case. Tried to repair but the auger shaft all but rusted itself to the auger over the years. If you have the bucket assy it's probably a good project and an easy swap, otherwise it's good for parts and a 7hp horizontal crank B&S engine.
10hp Tecumseh-powered Yard Man --- Electric start. Not as old as dirt however the output shaft is eating the brass gears in the gear case as a result of the shaft threads becoming worn out and rounded. Replace the output shaft and the gears inside the case and you have yourself a decent snow blower. If not the motor would make a good power plant for a project vehicle.
I'd fix the Yardman but the new house has a dirty driveway so I'm looking into a plow for my truck.
Both free unless you want them delivered.
