Shared storage and/or work space for the winter...

Shared storage and/or work space for the winter...

Attention Boston area people without a garage:

Looking for a couple more people to come in on a shared garage for the winter for the purpose of bike storage/wrenching.

I have dibs on 350sqft/two car garage. Cost per person would depend on total number (room easily for 5-6 bikes, but so far only two people including myself, so 3 bikes).

    Some details...

    - Located in Brighton minutes from I-90
    - 2 car garage, paved, rubber roofed
    - Secured doors
    - Friendly/accommodating owners, completely aware of the use and OK with it
    - Electric included
    - Shared tools, use of a lift (will be grabbing one)

Expected price per person $100-150 depending on total number. If you simply want to store your bike, happy to talk about that but limited access by appointment (you don't get a key to the place)

PM me if you are interested in knowing more...

If you were closer to where I live I would be all over that. I have a lift and tools I need space for, but Brighton is too inconvenient for me.

If I would have know about this a few weeks ago, I probably would have taken you up on it.

Damn...well, it's not too late. I've got 1 committed and 2 others interested, there is still room.

Re: Shared storage and/or work space for the winter...

With the divorce I'm probably going to be needing something like this once spring time comes. Anyone know of places where you can store stuff and work on it? If I can work but can't change fluids, that's probably good enough...

Honestly I'd drive up to an hour or so from metro-west. Longer even, maybe.

Yeah, still too far. I'm about an hour and a half in the best conditions.

I think I found a place in Tewksbury that I'm going to check out on Saturday morning. Is that inside anyone's circle?

That could work for me. Would it be big enough for us to split? Assuming you're interested in splitting, that is.

Yeah, a couple of them, but also a barely two week old baby. It's not the most conducive environment for working on vehicles in the garage. I only managed half of my rear brake job on the truck yesterday.

I know plenty that get away with working on bikes in self-store units.
Also look into the whole maker-space thing. Kid at work is active in one and does most of his bike work there now. Swapped axles in his truck using the space too.
It looks like a cool ass setup. They have lots of cool toys to play with, including media blasters and welders.

This place just opened. A bit hip for me but would love it if something like this was around Boston.

I think I could get away with working on a bike in a self-store unit. Trouble is I have the '69 El Camino, which is the main reason I need the space. And I need to do some loud and dirty work

Re: Shared storage and/or work space for the winter...

Saw the space. One car garage in an office condo complex. Two accessways: one via a standard door to an inside hallway the other by lockable garage door. Upstairs is the management company for the complex so no noise and I was told repair work not allowed in the space, but honestly, nobody would ever know if you were in there with the doors closed. Revving engines and impact guns are going to get us kicked out. Also, lowish ceilings so my bike lift will spend most of it's time on or near the ground. I need to put a tool chest in there and some storage, and three bikes until I sell my 1098. Should be plenty of room for another bike or two and we can move things around to make space for maintenance work that needs to be done.

At the moment I am doing what little work I can get away with in my storage unit. Not ideal at all.
