The Suzuki TL1000S motorcycle was introduced in 1997 as Suzuki's V-twin superbike and produced until 2001.
The TL1000S produced a reputation for being a proverbial 'widow maker'. The extent to which this reputation is justified is highly debatable, but it nevertheless imbued Suzuki’s V-Twin with a fearsome reputation.
It all stemmed from the decision to use a novel and unique rotary damper, with remote spring, to control the rear end. Opinions are divided, but it works for some people and doesn’t for others, causing all sorts of interesting back-end shenanigans which then translated into front end foibles. General consensus was that the heavier the rider, the better it worked, but it spooked Suzuki sufficiently for them to recall all the TLs and retro-fit a steering damper. Strange as it may seem, chain tension has a lot to do with it. If the chain’s too tight it can have an adverse effect on the suspension movement, causing the back end to ‘freeze’ and therefore provoke a possible hedge-bottom appointment. But adjust the slack with the back end compressed three inches, and Bob’s your mother’s brother.
But it’s the engine which really guarantees the TL a place in the motorcycling hall of fame infamy. Producing more power than a Ducati 916 (20 percent more, actually) it is an arm-wrenching-wheelie-pulling-mean-V-twin-gruntorama device and tastier than All Saints in an ice-cream factory.
In fact it’s this Ducati-beating performance, without the premium price, that attracted riders keen to experience the V-twin phenomenon. From just off idle the fuel-injected lump pulls with gusto. It’s just about the best wheelie machine since the Yamaha RD350LC.
Of course, all this grunt in a short, quick steering chassis with a bit of a rearward weight bias also added to the TL’s reputation as a head shaker to rival a parcel-shelf dog. Hence the damper.
This penchant for high-octane histrionics naturally detracts not one jot from the Suzuki’s appeal as a bike to be wrestled into submission and ultimately conquered. It’s a challenge, bestowing riding-God status on those who have owned, ridden and tamed the beast. Colour changes are about all that Suzuki see fit to alter over the years, but from the S-W models on the TL got even more low and midrange grunt from engine and fuel-injection mods. Like the Diesel jeans ad says: None But The Brave.

The Honda CBR 900RR, known in most markets as the "Fireblade", is a large displacement sports motorcycle, first released in 1992. Tadeo Baba is the CBR's original designer.
The CBR 900 RR was reputedly introduced with the hope of reigniting bikers' enthusiasm for large capacity sports machines at a time when big bikes were losing ground to smaller displacement counterparts because of lackluster handling and power delivery problems. [citation needed]
The CBR 900 was originally fitted with an 893cc 4 cylinder inline engine. Its handling capabilities were considered superior for a liter bike at the time, and stemmed from its relatively low weight of 185 kg, good braking and good steering design.
The Fireblade has received changes and redesigns over the years:
In 1995, engine capacity increased to 918 cc and the suspension was updated. This model had a reputation of civility toward the driver. It would remain largely unchanged until 2000. a In 2000, engine capacity increased to 929 cc. Added were Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI), active exhaust, all new USD (upside-down) shock absorbers. The swingarm pivot was moved to the back of the engine to reduce frame size and therefore overall mass. weight trimmed down to 170 kg.
In 2002, engine capacity increased to 954cc, larger injectors and radiator, re-mapped Electronic Fuel Injection and a more powerful computer were added. The bodywork and fairings were reworked for a sleeker, more aerodynamic feel. The frame was strengthed and a more rigid swingarm added and the riding position/pegs were raised to allow for greater lean angles. Dry weight reduced to 168 kg.
In 2004, Honda produced its first CBR1000RR 998 cc Fireblade, bringing the engine capacity of its sportsbike flagship model up to match that of its major competitors. The first computer controlled, fully variable steering damper was introduced, along with race inspired swingarm and rear suspension. Radial Mount front brake calipers were introduced.

Suzuki is Suzuki. The TL was not selling like Suzuki wanted. All the race guys went GSXR. So they reworked the motors & put them on SVs & DLs .
