    WTB - Ducati specific tools

Leaping into wrenching Italian style, seems like I need to waste some money... errr, buy a few Duc specific tools? Steering stem nut removal tool? Single sided swingarm socket? How about a belt tension harmonic something-or-other?

Anybody with any of this stuff lying around?

    Thanks!

Still interested in anyone who's out of the Duc maintenance game and wants to get rid of some tools though.

Ok, I grabbed a engine spinny thingy, a steering stem "charge the castle" nut tool and a couple other random things, but I FORGOT to get the stupid valve measuring doohickies... I'm planning on attacking this on Wednesday and don't feel like having them overnighted to me, does anyone local sell these? Is anyone local willing to let me borrow some?

I have the steering head castle nut tool, rear wheel socket, and a belt sprocket holder you can borrow.

that's a shim, if you're looking for valve adjustment stuff EMS has it. http://emsduc.com/

You don't need anything else but a micrometer unless you have the smaller valve stems (6mm me thinks). Your hyper should be fine but I don't know all the size off the top of my head.

Jeesh this is freaking confusing, Honda was so much simpler...

So the opener and closer shim measuring tools that EMS sells (like this http://emsduc.com/product/closer-measurement-tool-7mm/ ) are unnecessary? I kind of figured they were, why not just measure the damn shim by itself, but all I keep seeing are these damn measuring tools, so then I figured they're needed?

Re: WTB - Ducati specific tools

you need the tool for the closers, the picture you posted is an opener. If you buy the shim kit from EMS you will get the tool you need, other then the micrometer. You could also use a vernier caliper.

You can measure the open by itself(if you use a micrometer and if isn't not the 6mm stems), the closer you can't regardless of stem size.

Too bad, looks like Seacoast Sport Cycle just had their last seminar of the year on March 1st.

There are a bunch of youtube videos on how to do the adjustments too. There not that bad, just don't drop the retaining clips/half rings.

Re: WTB - Ducati specific tools

Ugh, big hiccup. The crank turning tool just failed on me, the two spikes sheared off the tool... https://www.dropbox.com/s/htqbhhgfyo...319_112808.jpg

I'm beside myself right now, I secured the tool tight enough I though (without torquing it down like the hulk) but obviously I should have rechecked how secure it was...

So I'm up the creek without a paddle, anyone in the greater Providence area wanna start that tool share right now, please?

At least the pieces came out.

does the tool have a warranty?

You can still turn the engine over with the rear wheel if you have a stand.

MotoMFG's phone number isn't in service and they still haven't returned an email I sent them last Thursday. I'm not expecting much from them.
