I don't half ass anything in life. Why buy a mini truck and small trailer now and then have to ditch it all and re-buy later? I just do it right the first time.

Looks nice but the price seems egregiously high.

Contractors and stuff sometimes sell off their stuff CHEAP, thats how I got mine.
That's a good call... But I'm thinking in this market I should be able to find what I want and still get a steal.

As for contractors, I'm very anal so something a contractor has beat the shit out of might not satisfy my wants. I'm thinking someone who needs to get out of their hobby hauler to pay their bills will be able to give me just as good or better of a deal.

Wow. Guess I'll go light my truck and trailer on fire right now being that it's half-assed and all....

Unless you're planning on having 11 bikes to race, what would make you ditch any of said equipment?

If I want to tow several bikes (including maybe some of my teammates' and their gear when they need it ), build a workbench and toolchests into the front of the trailer, sleep in it, wrench in it, tow the thing all over this half of the country, etc... a 5 x 8 isn't gonna be ideal.

Also, my good buddy has a spec miata track car and he might go in on the trailer a little bit with me so he could use it for track days... a 14x7 dual axle can fit one of those.

    miata in a 7 x 14? good luck.

it can be done, but if you want a car, why half ass it? do it right the first time... You'll need 16-24 ft length, 8 ft wide if ou plan on driving it in, and make sure it has the right axles. 14x7 will be too small if you have any form of shelving in it, and I haven't seen a 14 footer with axles suited for that (not saying they don't exist)

I found his website, prices listed seem neither good nor bad... I imagine they are not firm these days. Maybe I'll ping him.

A spec miata is 2100 pounds and is 5.5 feet wide. It will easily drive into a 7 x 14, and the dual axles are rated for 3500 pounds each, they won't even be breaking a sweat.

And this isn't a hard constraint... this is the size I will get no matter what... the added bonus I forsee is that if my buddy can fit his track car in it, I will let him use it when he needs and he will likely go in on a portion of the trailer with me or something, save me some dough.

I am paying 80 a month for a storage space. I wish that money was going into payments for a trailer/storage/hangout out in the yard. Whatever you get do not put race stickers on it. You need not reveal the contents.

+1 on this. I've seen trailers broken into and ransacked. Crackheads or kids.. they are both the same.

Some sponsors require the toy-hauler donning their stickers.

Are some sponsors willing to pay the insurance premium. They way I look at it is, at your level, the sponsors are all local merchants paying a small percentage of what you spend to race. Is what you have invested worth the hassle of losing it all? Not to me.
