    WTB Mountain bike

I am now hitting the wall of my family’s great metabolism. It wouldn’t be so bad but I currently have a desk job. I can already tell I’m starting to gain weight and become even more out of shape. I’m not a huge fan of exercise but biking should be able to keep my interested (damn ADD). Let me know what you got. Don’t want to spend much over $100 but that’s always negotiable. Thanks all!

    Re: WTB Mountain bike

I had one of these threads recently and got a ton of good replies. Lemme know what you find, how it goes, etc.

My "b" MTB is a Marin Rift Zone, full suspension. Pretty decent ride, and I don't really use it anymore. I wouldn't want to sell it for $100, but I'd let you borrow it indefinitely since I almost never use it. It's more there to let friends that want to ride with me and don't have bikes/have wal-mart POS bikes ride. Lemme know, I’d have to dig it out and make sure I’ve got a solid wheelset for it (I’m hard on wheels so they end up going bike->bike->bike as I destroy them off whatever I’m riding).

Plenty of good riding around here too, which is nice.

Gino, how do you have the same bike as me? I've never even SEEN another of these besides mine. If not for you being a good dude, not knowing where I live, and mine having a Fox shock I'd be checking my basement to make sure mine is still there right now...

Alex, no prob man. Lemme know. Tried to hit you up on AIM but you're too busy on NESR to answer

edit: Do you know if you want rigid, hardtail or full suspension?

My "B" bike as well. I was beginning to get good into hopping rocks and climbing picnic tables and wanted to concert it to a trials bike. I had thoughts of providing a solid mount for the rear but never did.

I picked up a (at that time) new 98 Mount vision Pro in 99 for a steal. 1/2 list price. I could not pass that one up.

    Re: WTB Mountain bike

Nice! I found mine @ a pawn shop. Missing spokes, flat tires, in serious need of some TLC, but couldn't let it pass. Never really had a use for it so it's been my loaner since I tore it down, fixed it up and was done with it. It was going to become my winter bike as well but I ended up with a rigid 29er (Motobecane Outcast) that picked up foul weather/townie duty, so I really don't use the thing. My style of riding (grew up racing BMX and dirt jumping) just lends itself better to hardtails than FS. My "A" bike is a Ventana one-off, built up from the frame. Got that for a steal too, think I traded a set of turntables for it.

Me Dan? I'm confused again, which seems to be a theme lately.

You want my bike Kitt? Which one, the Marin?

    Re: WTB Mountain bike

Obsolete, where on the North Shore are you? I have been going out every Sunday (well not the past 4 weeks, took a nasty fall and havn't been able to do ANYTHING including motorcycle ) with 1-3 of my other friends biking. I am planning on going out this Sunday with em. If you don't have a bike yet, I can see what we could do about getting you a loner if your interested.

We're usually in the Middlesex Fells, but one of my friends wants to try the woods over by his house in Woburn. Anyone else is welcome to join in!

I'm gonna borrow a couple of Dan's bikes to figure out what I want. Thanks for the offer Vawn but I'm busy on Sunday.

    Re: WTB Mountain bike

buy Ginos bike, that sounds like a pretty sweet deal. spend a little more and get alot more.

I got into urban riding myself for a while on a full suspension schwinn Rocket 88 with marzocchi's up front . I loved that thing! Got good at trials riding for a while but then had to sell it to get another sportbike.

my record was clearing 17 stairs in one jump. could hop up about 20 steps sideways with out putting the feet down.
I just found some pics recently of those days and would love to get back into it if I had the time.
