well..I've only been on the track for one race, not so great. But I think someone was timing me when I did the 3 laps on Alex's rmz, was around 1:17s I think....

Timing is not allowed at a Tony's Track Day. But apparently the blue group was into the 1:27s. And I was very slow.

    Re: WTB RACE Motard

Mike Donovan (#13 at Loudon) told me today he's selling his CRF450.

    2006 CRF450
all the goodies (he gave me the list, it's got everything nice)
Triples, slipper, wicked brakes, 59hp at the rear wheel , etc etc.

    $6,000

Denno: Run 21-22's on the motard and you'll be having tons fun in EX and battling. Top 4-5 guys are running 17-18's and then there's Travis and myself in the 19-low20 range. Holland right behind us at high20-low21 along with a few other guys.

since you asked Alex's opinion I will respond...looks like a good bike, it is the old steel frame though incase you wanna hold out for an aluminum frame getup...probably less sway in the chassis really gripping through turns I would guess.

Bike looks pretty cool. Suspension is sweet! (Penske rear shock and cartridge internals? schawing)

I have no idea about that steel frame / AL frame stuff Seth is talking dump on. *shrug* FWIW I'm pretty positive that frame isn't going to keep anyone from doing sub-20's on it...

    Re: WTB RACE Motard

For those that are asking about KTMs, here's my personal experience:

    KTM 560SMR
Bought bike brand new, spring 2006. Penguin school in April, raced all year bone stock. I think I adjusted the valves once, maybe twice.
Raced first half of 07. Tore motor down during the midseason break, crank welded, piston replaced. (No problems, just decided to weld the crank to prevent the dreaded "spun crank." Piston could've gone quite a while longer). Raced the rest of the season. Once again, if I adjusted the valves more than twice, I don't remember doing it.
Raced 08 season until weekend 6. Motor started tightening up at the end of Super Singles, got bad at beginning of Motard, pulled off the track. Thought I had it fixed, weekend 7 went out for practice, turns out I didn't have it fixed....bottom line, spun a crank bearing (not unexpected, they were original bearings). Replaced crank bearings, piston. Good to go.

And as for those who think the Japs are making more power, I beg to differ. My bike dynoed on Rob's at the track at 59.7hp. And the only modification was a full exhaust. You can get those numbers out of a 450, but not with the kind of reliablity of the stock bike.

ya, I wasn't trying to say that bike would hold anyone back...I just think someone with experience will notice a difference with the new frames/older frames especially on a road course where the bike is gripping 100%
