I agree, I am probably buying a stock kxf. Maybe race it in an mx race before the end of the season and then convert it over winter. How much you asking?

But the odds are it was build with a level of compentcy(Sp?). Does not Matter which one I get. I am sure the bike will not be the limiting factor.

anyone have thoughts/experience on KTMs much? I keep hearing stuff like the 560 blows up and "maybe" other models are more prone to blowing up than the japenese bikes as well. I always hear the KTM 450 is super strong motorwise for mx and wonder if it is as reliable as the other 450 mx bikes. I am pretty sure the sx250 (2stroke) is super strong and reliable so I wonder about their 4strokes.

I've been riding a 520SX since 2002 without any issues. Knock on wood. Split the cases last year and everything looked minty fresh.
Thinking about refreshing the motor with some new bearings, rings, etc over the winter...

well thats pretty sweet, looking at it from a race motor persepective I don't even consider an 02/03 blowing up as something bad, I was thinking more within a year or two of being new and having engine trouble.

Not sure what kind of maintenance the Honda/Yammy guys are doing, but I change oil after every track day and adjust valves every other day...

just curious, how often did you actually have to adjust the valves when you looked at them every other day? was it pretty consistent?
dude from mx team with crf450s told me he checked them every 6 hours on those bikes.

They weren't out of spec often... better safe than sorry. I did catch them tightening up once, though... all it takes is one oversight, ya know.
