limited government, lower taxes? try no income tax. ability to opt out of social security. states rights. pulling out of iraq, securing the borders.

Not sure how you say that about Ron Paul. I disagree with about 50% of what he stands for, but if there's one thing I can say for the guy, it's that he stands by his convictions.

Look at his "questions that won't be asked about the iraq war". He asked those questions back before the war was started. And his ideas on taxation and the economy, though I think too radical to be implemented in modern America, are far from "undecided".

The pertinent question for me is who will he take votes FROM? Unfortunately it looks like it will hurt the Republican candidate. Not really sure though. Ron Paul is to conservatives as Ralph Nader was to the Dems?

    EXACTLY!

Sounds like it could pan out to be a "Nader" effect

he won't take votes form anyone unless he doesn't get the Republican nomination and decides to run as an independent

if he does get the republican nomination, it's likely he will take votes away from Libertarian candidate George Phillies

Why is it that you disagree with half of what he says?

IMO a candidate for the Presidency needs to play a role for a majority of people, particularly ones that identify with his platform and are going to actually vote. However, as a candidate for the nomination to run for PRESIDENT, he seems to be all about the buffet style of platforming, I'll take one from them and one from there, one from here. I smell a ROSS PEROT campaign coming at us.

Should he find that role, win the nomination, and presidency, only then should he allow HIS convictions to be part of his vote on whatever policy comes to his desk. Of course this is just my take on candidate strategy but who the hell am I?
