    I've got a BikeMaster TrueGel (I think) battery in the SV. It came with the bike when I got it in March of 2012. It's STILL going strong.

    You still riding over winter? Then Yes.

    If someone nearby has a NOCO Genius Charger or other smart charger you might throw the old one on first, they have an AGM-specific (and standard)u Battery Repair Mode. Though two years without a charge may be beyond hope. I have two older chargers and the NOCO is more effective, recovering two different AGM batteries.

    If the old battery was an AGM, they usually won’t charge: the resting voltage could be well under 12V. You have to hook it up in parallel to a battery that is only partially discharged (say 12.2V) then charge the pair.

    yes, existing battery is the Yuasa YTX14-BS probably about 3 years old, I will try the parallel "jump start" method of charging. I do plan on winter riding, but hopefully by next winter, I will have my auxiliary parallel charging system and battery all set up. My parallel system will have a 850CCA Optima Yellow Top & 75 amp alternator

    Instead of all that I carry a Li jump pack in my jacket if it’s cold, pannier if not. Tiger 1050’s don’t like to crank. Gotta change the cables.

    auxiliary charging system is not backup, it is for my accessories (heat primarily), backup is only a secondary benefit, 400watt stock system doesn't cut it

    only thing I have left to finish the auxiliary charging system, it build a battery box, then my wiring, then but the alternator belt on

    I picked up an interstate for the bike today. 14ah, $56.00. I've had great luck with them on the equipment, I'll give them a shot with the bikes.

    2 new batteries for me, not only a dead battery in my V-strom, the battery in my UTV died over the weekend, been starting fine, loaded it on a trailer, when I went to unload, battery was click click click, due for service anyway, I trailered it to my dealer, they unloaded it with a forklift

    As it happens, an AGM car Battery was deeply discharged. We tried the dual battery trick and it seemed to be charging, but went dead again.

    Xxaarraa recommended the NOCO Genius Charger and I used it in repair mode. Took a few hours but now the battery is back to normal. Has standard, AGM, and Li modes.

    I’ve stuck with one of the originals (if not the original) Li jump packs: Anti Gravity. Have an XP1 for the bike and XP10 for car/snowmobile. There are many copycats now, some of which might be good. EarthX uses LiFePo4 cells instead of Lithium Cobalt, which I understand are safer.

    There is one thing I don’t like about them: they have their own charger. It’s tiny and pretty fast, but you need it. They come with car and wall chargers.

    Prior to those being available we’d purchased the Clore JNC660. It weighs 9 lbs but has long-life AGM batteries that will start a car even at low temps.

    Just ordered an AntiGravity ReStart 30 to try in my WRX. It’s a Lithium battery that shuts itself off when voltage drops below 12.6V. Ordered it from Revzilla, and ordered the SAE terminal adapters from Amazon.

    The 6-7yo Optima AGM in it isn’t holding a charge. It’s the lightest AGM at 31 lbs, while this weighs 6 lbs. Pretty expensive for a battery, but a really cheap way to take 25 lbs out of the nose. AntiGravity actually makes a 17lb Group 35 battery, but it’s $800 - and sold out.

    Don’t drive this car in the winter usually so cold start doesn’t matter, and I have another Group 35 battery just in case.

    Except when I'm at Thompson for a trackday. Strange. Both times I've been to Thompson, this battery wouldn't start the bike.

    Left it on the tender for a few hours, light was green, still no start. Hooked up one of those cheap $40 LiPo jump packs, started the bike easily. Didn't have to touch it the rest of the day.

    Time to replace it.

    The 998 started fine all winter when I would periodically start it up to test things, but now that spring is here it's answer to the start button is HAHAHAHAHA FUCK YOU clickedy click click click.

    So a while back I impulse bought one of those "genius" battery chargers that I think g-man on here went on and on about. I was pretty disappointed for the most part as it seemed about equal to the $19.95 walmart charger I'd bought a long time ago, just a lot more expensive. But it may just have redeemed itself.

    I had the battery for my rider on and off the tender all winter. Thought I took perfect care of it. Dropping it into the well a couple weekends ago I managed to short it! Quite a zap! After that the battery read 9V and barely made the starter solenoid click.
    Likewise. The kids have started using the Toyota shitbox commuter I have as a play structure. And with the 'vid I'm not commuting anymore. Net effect is the battery is always flat in that too. I replaced the battery last winter and the kids promptly left the dome lights on.

    The overpriced "genius" charger has a "repair" mode. I think it is just a desulfication mode... not sure.. but I'll be if it didn't turn both batteries around. Both machines start now. It may have paid for itself. Maybe give one of those a shot.

    Finally replaced the Shorai in my race bike that I’ve had for probably 8-10 years. Fekkin ZERO maintenance performed during the off seasons. NONE!

    Kicker is, it still works, I just had to get a smaller one to fit into my new subframe. The larger one is going into my dirt bike.

    I just replaced the 9yo cheapo battery in my dad's old VTX. I rarely put it on a tender. I replaced it with a cheapo battery from Amazon (Weize). This is actually my third time buying this brand of battery off Amazon in the last year. Will they last? Only time will tell.

    I bought an Antigravity for my KTM last year on Black Friday, ended up being cheaper than the same size Yuasa, while outputting over 100CCA more. It had a bit of trouble turning the bike over in 35* weather after not having started for a few months (after a few attempts it finally did start), but ever since the bike has started flawlessly, even in a 40 degree garage. I think the battery was slightly discharged when I first got it and installed it, and I don't have a lion charger to keep it maintained (I really need to get one).

    Pretty happy with it so far.
