The manufacturer can tell you if the ammo is M2 spec or “Garand safe.” They are usually advertised as such.

The M14/M1A gas system was modified so can fire most any 7.62.

If you questionable 30.06 ammo, it’s more prudent to sell it and buy known-good stock. Guys with M1903 Springfields, M17’s etc can fire just about any commercial load so you won’t get burned.

Another option is to purchase an adjustable gas plug, but that is money you could be spending on ammo.

Federal American Eagle AE3006M1, and Winchester makes a 147 grain FMJ which is supposed to be OK. If it’s anything else not 150 grain FMJ I’d pass.

For ease of use in the future, I think I'll end up going with that gas plug that allows you to run anything (within reason).

Understood. Dad left behind a largish collection, and while there's many that don't do anything for me, you don't sell dad's guns...

Come on really? A desert Eagle in 50ae? Get yourself a real gun like a Smith and Wesson S&W500 for your carry piece.

Listen pal. You just never know when you need to shoot out the engine block of a Mack truck trying to run you down. I like to be prepared

Like I said get the Smith and Wesson S&W500 Lord Humungus used a 44 magnum so you'll be ready to blow away the mack trucks with the S&W .500 magnum.

Pffft, just get one on of those printed plastic high powered rifles that everyone is printing in their living room now. Then you can fire all those super killy plastic bullets at the air intake at 6000 rounds per second and choke that fucker faster than a straw will take down a turtle outside a CA Starbucks.

I don't live in the 19th century so a revolver is of no value to me.

You carry a pistol to fight your way to a rifle. These are extremely unlikely scenarios.....

Don’t know about the rest of you, but never found shooting .44 Mag to be a pleasant experience. I suspect most S&W 500’s are decorating safes.

My coworker had an S&W500. I found the grip to be too small and I have average sized hands.

Well, it's capable of over 3000 ft. lbs. of energy... the grip could be the size of my truck and it would still be too small.

Last I checked they violate the AWB pistol section due to the weight restriction.

USPSA match tomorrow morning in Hopkinton.

If anyone wants to try it out all ya really need is a peestolah, holster, belt, mags, a few mag pouches, bout 250-300 rounds of ammo & 25 bucks.

Hell, if you have a belt n mag holders I'll let you try out a Sig p320 for a day.

Woot! My first match with the CZ and my first top 10! Placed 9th outta 31 in Production (35th outta 82 overall).

Screwed the pooch with a no-shoot ("hostage") on the very first stage of the day... hit that target SQUARE between the eyes. Couldn't have been a more perfect shot placement. Fekkin Hollywood execution style. I shoulda taken a photo for the lulz.

    pistol mounted light

looking to pick up a pistol mounted flashlight for a gen 3 g19 which i use as the bump in the night pistol (i also have a hand held flashlight right with it)...carry pistol is a pps m2...i'm between olight and inforce right now...streamlight i'm not fond of the switch mechanisms and i've heard about the battery door issues...surefire is expensive but nice...heavily leaning towards one of the inforce offerings...i like the idea of the quick detach mechanism on the olight just for range trips cause i like to put my off hand index finger on the trigger guard but i should be training with the light on it so i know how it behaves so i guess that's not really a big deal...i feel like a longer light that extends past the barrel would get dirtier faster but also serve as one of those out of battery devices while still allowing easy field stripping and actually serving a purpose...on the other hand a smaller light you be more compact and not snag on anything...i don't want a strobe function and i think very high lumens would be blinding if i had to turn it on at night and actually use it...i'm heavily favoring the aplc right now cause i very much light the on/off switch paddles...but i might be able to be swayed...what do you guys think?...

olight pl mini valkyrie - 400 lumens, 250mAh non removable rechargable lithium polymer battery, not as good switch paddles, quick detach machanism, flush with front of pistol
olight pl2 valkrie - 1200 lumens, 2 cr123a batteries, not as good switch paddles, quick detach mechanism, sticks out in front of pistol, strobe setting,
olight pl1 gen 2 valkyrie - 450 lumens, 1 cr123a battery, good switch paddles, quick detach mechanism, sticks out in front of pistol,

inforce apl - 400 lumens 1 cr123a battery, good switch paddles, screwdriver to attach, sticks out in front of pistol,
inforce aplc - 200 lumens, 1 cr2 battery, good switch paddles, screwdriver to attach, flush with front of pistol,

posted the same question on nes as well...not getting much feedback here...the only other thing to think about is available holsters for this particular setup...but since this is not a carry gun it doesn't really matter to me
