Going back to the AR discussion.. any love for the S&W M&P Sport II stuff? It seems like it's at a good price/quality point.

I have one. It’s a good platform and reliable, but nothing fancy. I ended up changing so much on it that it’s hardly an m&p anymore.

Thanks for the reply. Out of interest, what were the first few things you changed?

    Guns...-193be047-eaea-426a-9072-4085ecc5a832

The first was the trigger. I used it stock with a CMC trigger for a while. After that I got a good deal on a full YHM upper, and put a key mod freefloat handgaurd on it. Then I put a new giessle buffer spring and weight in it, and a charging handle. Now the only part that’s really m&p is the lower receiver. I did all those things more just to tinker than to have any better ‘performance’. It shoots just a hair better than stock, maybe 1.5-2 moa bench shooting from a block, so no significant improvement.

We run M&P 15T's at my job... I haven't had a chance to play around with the Sport (either gen). My advice would be the same as previous posters. Buy a quality stripped lower, and decent quality lower parts kit. Watch 15 minutes of YouTube and learn to assemble it yourself. You should know what you're shooting. Then buy a mid-grade upper, which I'm a big fan of Aero Precision. If you want to spend a little more and like wearing all things 5.11, then go with a BCM upper. After you shoot a while and get comfortable with this one... completely assemble your next one. It's really not that hard to learn the gun. I have ZERO mechanical inclinations, and I do all the armorer work for our department.

wait... that didn't come out right.

Also, real G's run Geissele triggers

I'm thinking about doing a round of sporting clays at Addiville Thursday in the AM if anyone is interested in going or trying it out. Pretty relaxed there and if you don't have your own shotgun you can use one of theirs for $20.

I helped setup the stages today. I can’t make the match though, my son has 2 soccer games tomorrow so I’m out.

I did good this past weekend. Not at the competition because I didn't go but I did manage to come home with this.

Gartman Arms is selling everything they have from Springfield Armory at their cost. I got this Loaded version with 2 preban magazines and 2 boxes of ammo for about 300 under retail. They still had a national match version on the wall. Not sure what they had left for pistols.

A bunch of us MAY be heading out to the props in a couple weeks for another shoot 'em up. More weapons than I can count, more rounds than anyone should even have, and pounds & pounds of tannerite. The array of weapons is usually pretty impressive if not astounding. Hoping we can get Randy to launch a practice grenade or two this time!

While safety is a priority, it's usually a pretty loose group. It's in New Durham, NH if anyone may want to make the trip up.

Nah I got my boat back in the water last year, so we ended up camping via water more last year. With the new house I doubt we'll get out too much this year either unfortunately. I'd definitely let you know if I was headed out that way haha

Can I buy from an FFL in NH with a MA drivers license? I haven't gotten around to converting my MA license to NH yet.

So you moved from MA to NH and you're now a NH resident? I'm assuming you have a house or residence there?

Some FFLs may not want to touch you, but according to the 4473, you can provide other valid forms to show you are a resident.
A link to the county courthouse with tax records, some may take utility bills as evidence.

Questions 18.a Identification and 18.b Supplemental Documentation on the back of the form spells it out in black and white.

Question 18.a. Identification: Before a licensee may sell or deliver a firearm
to a nonlicensee, the licensee must establish the identity, place of residence, and
age of the transferee/buyer. The transferee/buyer must provide a valid
government-issued photo identification document to the transferor/seller that
contains the transferee's/buyer's name, residence address, and date of birth. A
driver's license or an identification card issued by a State in place of a license is
acceptable. Social Security cards are not acceptable because no address, date of
birth, or photograph is shown on the cards. A combination of governmentissued documents may be provided. See instructions for question 18.b.
    Supplemental Documentation.
If the transferee/buyer is a member of the Armed Forces on active duty
acquiring a firearm in the State where his/her permanent duty station is located,
but he/she has a driver's license from another State, the transferor/seller should
list the transferee's/buyer's military identification card and official orders
showing where his/her permanent duty station is located in response to question
18.a. Licensees may accept electronic PCS orders to establish residency.

Question 18.b. Supplemental Documentation: Licensees may accept a
combination of valid government-issued documents to satisfy the identification
document requirements of the law. The required valid government-issued photo
identification document bearing the name, photograph, and date of birth of
transferee/buyer may be supplemented by another valid, government-issued
document showing the transferee's/buyer's residence address. This
supplemental documentation should be recorded in question 18.b., with the
issuing authority and type of identification presented. For example, if the
transferee/buyer has two States of residence and is trying to buy a handgun in
State X, he may provide a driver's license (showing his name, date of birth, and
photograph) issued by State Y and another government-issued document (such
as a tax document) from State X showing his residence address. A valid
electronic document from a government website may be used as supplemental
documentation provided it contains the transferee's/buyer's name and current
    residence address.

I'm a full-time student at Dartmouth, so I have utility bills and stuff in my name in NH but I'm just lazy and haven't converted my license over. I read 4473 and I had the same conclusion as you did, but it might pay to just call an FFL and ask them if they would accept my ID or not.

Worse comes to worse, I'll just convert the license over and be done with it -- which I should do anyway.
