I've been preparing for something like that for years. Not to shoot someone, but to use that weapon more as a tool to make them surrender & comply. If you think I kid, talk to anyone in my family. My wife, two daughters and son all know the drill. And each of them can load & shoot just about every firearm in the house.

Sometimes even *I* think I'm fucked.
While waiting for the cops to come keep the gun on him and make him wash the dishes, clean the toilets, clean the grout. All the stuff needed to be done but don’t want to do.

"show me your hands please" with a round in the chamber would be my approach.
I have a semi auto, so I would have to pull the bolt back. But there's nothing to stop you racking the slide when there's already one in the tube and letting that round hit the floor -- that way you're never walking around with an empty chamber.

If your home gets invaded and you need to fire more than 4 or 5 shots from a shotgun, you have bigger problems.

Again so now you have the rack noise AND A SHELL HITTING THE FLOOR? And one less shell in your 5 shot shotgun, no thanks.

the safety on my coach gun is silent, an intruder will get a verbal warning, the next sound he will hear will be the gun going off, about 0.05 seconds before he feels 00buck pelting his body

I gotta remember to pick up some cable ties, I have gorilla tape to restrain, I'd probably end up using both, but starting with cable ties seems more practical

I’d listen to this guy more than me when it comes to firearms. I was just making a comment - not offering advice.

    Re: Guns...

If someone is in my house my main goal is not allowing them to come up the stairs for the 20 or so minutes it takes the police to show up from the station 2 miles down the road. I'm not going down to interact with the intruder and sure as well not having the death of my neighbor on my conscience as I blast away at shadows and rip holes through my house into theirs. The baddies can have my 6yo TV, it's not worth the imminent aggravation. Hell, I'll even tell them where they can grab a 6-pack on the way out if they are quick and leave me alone. Besides, really good chances they have been caught on one of the cameras and now I have their pic and maybe a pic of their car. Now where's my punisher vest...

I found a good deal on a 6.5 Creedmore, do I need it? It'd be another caliber that I'd need to stock.

the verbal warning I will also ask them to voluntarily tie themself up with the cable tie, at which point I will relax the gun posture and start wrapping them in gorilla tape

What is your purpose for wanting a 6.5? Just to have one? Then yes, great round. It's a nice medium range shooter with good accuracy. Other than a good range gun, it doesn't have a ton of usefulness, imo. But everyone sees things differently.

Basically... want a good range gun. Unfortunately, my club only goes to 200yds, but I like shooting for accuracy.

You want semi-auto? or going the distance and using a bolt? 6.5 will toy with 200yds, as would any modern center fire really. So yeah, 6.5 is a good choice for that. A good bolt cartridge for medium to long range is the 260Rem as well.

If you want a challenge, get nice Ruger 1022T.

As much as everyone loves the 10/22, I much prefer a bolt action, and my Savage and CZ gives me that mid/long range challenge.

New CT executive order for gun stores.

You can only buy a gun by appointment only

·Requires firearm transactions to be conducted by appointment only: The order requires all retail businesses that sell firearms, ammunition, and other similar components or supplies to conduct all transactions by appointment only in order to limit person-to-person contact as much as possible, effective immediately.

Appointments must be limited in order to allow a six-foot distance between any customers and staff in a store, and only customers conducting such transactions will be allowed in the store.

I'd find that useful if they did the same at liquor stores as well...
