the Governor has authority to "draft" the unorganized militia (RSA 110-B:3) as does the mayor or selectmen of a city or town (RSA 31:56) Does there have to be an official draft and sign up, or an acknowledgement by authorized authorities (governor/mayor/selectmen)

and if we are an individual taking up arms on our own property, are not we protected by the state constitution, Article 2-a

    notice, it includes property.

So if I am understanding this correctly, the concept of an unorganized militia is recognized and permitted by law here in NH.

it IS the law here in NH, if you are able bodied, over 18, not a member of active military, national guard, or reserves, you are a member of the unorganized militia

    https://www.amazon.com/Walkers-Razor...%2C279&sr=8-10

The wife picked these up for me as a Father's Day gift. Here are my thoughts so far...

Music - The bluetooth sound quality for listening to music isn't great but it's good enough for what I intend to use it for.
Phone Calls - I wouldn't recommend any lengthy phone conversations but they work well enough for brief calls.
Hearing Protection - Sufficient for outdoor shooting. I haven't brought them to an indoor range but worst case scenario is I'll double up with ear plugs underneath. It seems this is the case with all bluetooth earmuffs in this price range. Even with earplugs, the speaker and bluetooth should work just fine.
Profile - Very slim and has no effect on cheak weld for me but obviously this will vary by individual.
Comfort - They might be the most comfortable earmuffs I own but again, this will vary by individual.
Functionality - The ability to adjust the bluetooth and speaker volume independently is awesome as it allows you to both listen to music, hear what's going on around you, and protect your ears from loud noise (gun fire etc.) all at the same time.

I was eyeing the Protac 500s that Oreo reviewed but the wife got these so I'm just going with it. I'm amazed she even thought of something like this for a gift, let alone do such a great job of picking them out (these were my second choice).

In a nutshell I am VERY happy with them but you have to understand what I am looking for. I will be using them in my workshop (running saws etc), mowing the lawn, and shooting. Bluetooth connectivity for me is about staying connected while wearing them, and maybe having some music in the background when I'm mowing the lawn. That being said the quality of the bluetooh feed isn't a huge priority. As long as it works I'm happy. Before getting these it seemed as though I was in another world when wearing good ear protection. These do a great job of keeping you aware while providing protection and keeping you connected.

Overall the biggest pros with these for me are the comfort and minimal/no interference with cheek weld when shooting.

Can someone school me on red dots for my AR? I'm eventually going to drop some good money on an aimpoint but it will be a long time before that day comes. In the meantime I'm looking to buy something on the cheap side ($200 range). Are red dots in this price range worth it? It will be for range use so it doesn't have to be indestructable. Really, I just want something that will hold it's zero.

I was in this exact dilemma and went with a Vortex Sparc AR after getting some advice from some active-duty friends. Don't be put off by the MSRP on the website; you can get them for ~$199 new.

If you can wait a couple of months, you're welcome to try mine out.

Get a Sig Romeo 5. They can be found all over in the $100-125ish range. Have one on my 5.56 8" pistol and the thing is great!!!

Got the vortex strike force 2, does red and green. Nice optic, good if you have an astigmatism in one or both eyes BTW.

I have astigmatism, but didn't know that some optics are better than others for it. How do they help with astigmatism?

Yes sir any red dot, reflex, and especially holographic optics can look blury when you have an astigmatism even when you're wearing your glasses. The best are prismatic optics to solve the problem, the strikefire2 isn't a prism but whatever they did I can see it clearly.

It was a complete PSA upper. I cant find a pic of it online. It has no vents and is quite long and directs all the blast forward. Almost looks like a suppressor. I kinda wish it had vents so it barks flames for fun. I only get a fireball every 10th shot or so.

I shot a friends with a lot of vents and the pressure differential hurt my sinuses quite a bit.

My wife and a neighbor were both like "Thats pretty friggen loud..."

Sounds like you have a flaming pig of sorts, I have a noveske and have given up on trying to tame a 10.5 ar it's just not gonna happen without a giant muzzle device or silencer IMHO.

Any recommendations for a good basement gun safe? Would need to store (let's say) 3-4 rifles comfortably, as well as a few pistols.

I can't recommend a specific safe but I can give you some pointers.

Don't obsess over specs (fire rating, quality of the lock, etc.) as it's always been my understanding that this stuff doesn't make as much of a difference as you'd think. Really the focus should be on layout and dimensions.

You should expect to use every other slot in the rack as most guns are too wide too place directly next to each other. Even if you can place them adjacent, you'll want a little extra room so you're not knocking them into each other when retreiving them from the safe.

With that being said, if you're looking to store 4 long guns only, then get an 8 gun safe with one row of storage and place them in every other slot. This will provide you with enough room between each gun and since there's only one row you'll be able to access each gun without having to shuffle others around. There may be options that are four wide with two rows deep. I would avoid this as it requires you to move the guns in the front row to access the rear. It doesn't sound like a big deal but trust me after a while it gets annoying. Of course, all of this is assuming you have no intention of expanding your collection down the line.

Also, will you be storing anything else in the safe with the guns?
