    2. There are no intellectual discussions here, only people talking at each other and repeating what they have always said. No one concedes, acknowledges, finds common ground.
    3. A high percentage of the NESR population just likes to argue for the sake of arguing. Its like they get their rocks off by just disagreeing, no matter what the topic at hand.
    4. There is a high incidence rate of people with a sense of humor. Lots of genuinely funny people on the payroll.
    5. Peter Gaborioult has been around a long time. One day you search for something, and a thread from 2002 pops up and you start reading, and bam, Peter G has posted something in it.
    6. There seems to be a high incidence rate of the pro-gun, pro-liberty crowd, atypical of the general demographic of Cambridge/Boston/MA/educational capital of the free world. Proximity to NH and ME may have something to do with that.
    7. Never trust someone who says they learned 3 lessons but proceed to type 7 lessons.
    Lesson 8. It's spelled Gaboriault.

Stop and think about where those fuckers are gonna end up when you start touching off 5.56 rounds in a house. If a 9mm went through a piece of furniture and 3 walls, imagine how deep, into your neighbors house, a bunch of 3000 fps projectiles are going to go. Hell, they're going to go through the intruder, through a couple walls of your house, and probably through a couple walls of the house next door.
That is sound advice for all y'all city dwellers, but for those of us who are rural and potentially not only have to clear a house but a few acres of land it makes a lot more sense. Regardless of 9mm of 5.56/.223, the most important factor is that you are proficient with what you have and don't rely on something like drywall or even studs to stop a round. A rifle is much more versatile unless you're in an apartment complex or truly see yourself shooting towards your neighbors house.

The fact he was a known nut with violent back ground had been in a Mental Hospital he escaped

This is what you get relying on the government for your protection HA

Allegedly there are 200,000,000 million guns in the USA I helped make 10,000 a week for 6 years
Guns, black rifles are NOT going away , so get your own If you tries to round them up they still would be around for 500 years

I could see some semi auto confiscation/ban so if your cheap buy a revolver

God created man Samuel Colt made them equal

When you have a Psych case or adult criminal tattoo a BIG letter on his/her right palm so EVERYONE can see
    they shouldn't own a gun

Develop highly accurate lie detector and use it to sort out kids and the again adults before purchase of firearms
I say technology as I have EYE ball witness of pistol permit applications being thrown away by bureaucrats

The State Police barracks that services my town is just about 30 miles away from my home. We have had armed robberies in the past few years, people funneling gas from farm equipment at night, and cars coming onto posted properties with 1/4 mile long driveways and idling after midnight. Some of us can't rely on a 30 minute response time to "check out someone on my property who is now trampling around in the woods with a headlamp" around our property. When something goes "bump" you investigate. Plain and simple.

I think you are confusing the phrase "clear a house" and imagining some SWAT-like tactics. That is nothing like real life for an average rural homeowner. I would much rather be prepared than be bleeding out waiting 30 minutes for help to arrive.

You ever had to clear your house while waiting for the staties to arrive?

I have. Twice. You are living in a fantasy world if you think you are going to go out solo and "clear" your land also for someone intending to harm you. You do NOT have the upper hand in that situation.

And to think you are mentioning bringing a firearm outside to defend your life against someone who might be siphoning fuel from your fucking tractor. It's like half the gun nuts just have a massive hard-on for trying to "catch" someone in a situation where they can legally, or quasi-legally kill someone. That's not a badge of honor I'd like to wear.

I had a guy show up to buy some siding from me. Big RAM pickup truck, truck nutz, confed flag, etc. I played the pro-2a just to keep the conversation going and finish the deal. Started mentioning how it was so nice that I lived out in the middle of nowhere, but if he were me, he'd take down all the trees to "improve my sight lines".

Go back to watching Airwolf, idiot. If someone wanted me dead, sight lines or not, they could do it. This isn't a paintball game.

And that even the lead core stuff routinely rips the back side of solid wood bowling pins apart, to the point where we can only use them for 1 or 2 rounds at the weekly pin match I shoot.
We're not going to agree on this, except for the M855 part, but others might find these links interesting. I'm not sure what you mean about specialty ammo, but regular .223 is cheap and readily available.

There's lots of other links out there that back up the fact that an AR is not a horrible choice for HD depending on the setup. It may not be ideal depending on the overall situation, but it's far from "horrible".

No. Because production KTM 790 and Yamaha FZ07 based ADV toys are NOT ON THAT LIST!!
I'm pretty disappointed about the Yamaha thing. I'd have put money on them having a real Tenere 700... and then announcing it would not be coming to the US.

Although the Duke 790 and F850GS (with cruise!) are kind of cool to see. Haven't read anything on the Tiger 800 updates yet, but I bet that doesn't suck.

    But wtf Yamaha!!!

In the quiet words of the Virgin Mary, come again? If the numbers of mass shootings were positively correlated to population, then China would have had ~4.3 times the number of mass shootings we've had and India would have had ~4.1 times the mass shootings.

In other words, if it was proportional to population, then the U.S. wouldn't even make the top ten. Even if the correlation coefficient was less than 1.0, i.e. it's not directly proportional to population, then you would still see the list dominated by China and India. But you don't, because the notion that there's a correlation between population and mass shootings is bullshit.

if you include the population of China, remember to include the mass murders committed by the government as well as civilian if the Chinese government even lets the stats out and you do realize that mass murders in India as well, have been conveniently left out, in 2016 alone, there was the Pamore attack, killing 8 and injuring 20, and the Nagrota attack killing 4, but that could be cause they used grenades as well as AK47s

Mass shootings get most of the publicity, because they’re almost always white people.

But most gun murders are in cities, and mostly in select areas of those cities, and mostly young men of color. In Chicago, personal handgun ownership was essentially prohibited from 1985 until a few years ago (when they lost a Supreme Coyrt case). How’d that work for them?

Unfortunately it's really hard to get a job with a prison record.

The US has 22 percent of the world prison population, with 4 percent of the overall population.
