not surprising, was Sanders support actually support for Sanders or support for anyone but Clinton, people who actually did support Sanders ideals are gravitating toward Jill Stein

I think there a bunch of people who actually liked Sanders, but I don't think all them gravitate towards Stein.

I've heard a few examples of people who actually went from Sanders to Trump. Ironically, when you look at his flip flopping over the years and look past at the obviously self serving showmanship, he's a quick social issue or two away from being a democrat. He's at least closer to the moderate left than the extreme right picture he's trying to paint anyway.

Many sanders voters were just desperate for someone with the appearance of fresh/new/anti-establishment. I think socialism sounds good to anyone if you don't think about it for too long (who doesn't want all the free stuff and higher wages? ). So all of his proposals sounded 'fine' to them. Trump somewhat tries to play that card too, being the wealthy businessmen instead of career politician. Just don't think about his proposals too long either.

Luckily for him the average person has an attention span of a few minutes until the next sound bite comes along.

That's not an interesting take; that's a standard cliche take from a leftist who wants the government to be large and in charge. He thinks it's terrible that libertarians don't support government massive manipulations of the economy. He thinks it's terrible that libertarians don't support government massive forcible re-distribution of wealth. So yeah, he's not going to be with Johnson on economics, because he's a Bernie/Stein socialist. Yay for him.

I take it as a good sign that the establishment deems it necessary to try and make him look bad.

"Remember “Fair Tax”? You may have heard of it before–it’s Mike Huckabee’s tax plan" I'm pretty sure Huckabee didn't invent the idea.

This is not some unbiased by-the-numbers assessment. It's super biased and unfortunately has the usual fear mongering and unwillingness to recognize new ideas. By recognize, I don't mean agree. I just mean accept them as alternatives, instead of reaching for the easiest way to reject them.

A fair tax plan is not "a grotesquely immoral hand-out to rich people.". It doesn't hand them a thing. He even concedes they buy more stuff. The problem with his analysis (and many other economic analysis of any political lean) is that nothing is static. Changing the tax system so dramatically will theoretically have an impact on consumer spending habits and income. You can't compare an entirely new tax plan to existing incomes and assume it'll all stay fixed. Well, you can but should not value it much. It does illustrate that something this large scale should probably be phased in, to prevent a massive change.

"But it gets worse, because the 23% rate is a lie–it’s much too low to fund the government, and in practice they would have to raise it much higher. " --- Well.... that's just shitty reporting. Libertarians generally and Gary himself have said they want to cut federal spending. Just last night I heard him pressed for a number he clearly didn't have on defense spending and he threw out a relatively arbitrary 20% goal. Hell this terrible 'analysis' even delves in to Libertarian goals pointing out that they include removing the federal government from many aspects of our life.

If you want to claim a fault with Johnson, or many libertarians, it's that they usually are proposing fairly radical change. And I can support that we shouldn't be in a hurry to implement many changes at once, to not destabilize the economy.

This is an absolute joke of an article. And I've got a pretty low bar, but I'm a few paragraphs away from the bottom and I'm done reading. That's rare for me. This is tabloid quality.

I got a bit wound up by the end so I might have been a bit harsh. For the record, I despise Trump and didn't like Bernie's plans but can't stand when their views are portrayed with a similar level of bias.

Just like all those 'natural' sites dedicated to the conspiracies of BigPharma and their protection of profits, so buy their book/video/diet program/magic pills/herbs to fight the man. By giving this different person money for their completely unproven product, which definitely isn't motivated by profit.

My point is that it isn't worth the trouble to make a "well sourced, point-by-point repudiation of his numbers", when all he's written is another boring ordinary pedestrian lefty rant about how libertarians don't support minimum wages, unions, entitlements, redistribution, social engineering, taxation, theft, etc. Yep, it's true, we don't. Next.
