I don't particularly love Johnson, and Weld even less so, but having more options for us in the future is a good thing long term. It can't get any worse this year can it?

In the off chance Johnson somehow wins I won't regret that vote. He's still a better choice than the other two.

Johnson. For many of the reasons stated here. That and I can't with any shred of a conscience vote for either "major" candidate. I think it's sad that these are the slime that rose to the top of the cesspool. It tells ME alot about where both parties are headed that this is the best either has to offer...

I voted for Nixon in '72, and Ford in '76

1980, the nite before the election, David Koch, Ed Clark's running mate spent the $$$$$$$ it cost for simultaneous air time on CBS/ABC/NBC, I was sold on the idea of the Libertarian Party and have voted that way ever since, I have even ran as a candidate (state senate) and came out on top on $$/vote

I agree with others, I don't really like the guy... but at least I'll be able to sleep at night knowing I didn't vote for either of the two crooks and liars.

I'm not sure if that says more about this group or the other places you visit on the internet

While there are a number of smart folks here, our common interest in motorcycles makes us clearly not a representative sample. We also have the usual collection of loons at both political fringes.

My point was that one good thing about this place is that even when the discussion appears serious, and sometimes heated, it isn't necessarily 100% earnest. There!s an entertaining level of exaggeration here that makes things less serious.

    Two thoughts...

After the election, who will print up the "don't blame NESR, we voted for Johnson" stickers?

    Not so much:

STEIN: "We certainly need an assault weapons ban, but we need more than that. There are some 260 people every day who are injured or killed by gun violence, so it's very important that we ban assault weapons, for starters, but there are other steps that need to be taken quickly."

Success requires someone who can turn ideology into credible candidates.
not to throw any more on the current candidates....

SO.... Hillary and Trump are ripe candidates for the D&R parties.

They are terrible, but the rest of the world will not view HRC as a buffoon (Trump) or an inconsequential know-nothing (Johnson).

Trump may be viewed as a buffoon by world leaders but they're scared of him. No one, including Trump himself, knows what he'll really do.

On the other hand, they know how Clinton operates and while it may be good for certain world leaders it isn't exactly great for the American public in a lot of ways.

Only our allies are afraid of Trump. Those who wish us harm see him as an early Christmas present from America. His election will strengthen their cause as his hatred makes radicalization easier than ever. The likelihood that Trump will do something to provoke more Islamic Americans to be radicalized against America is their fondest hope.

I don't disagree that a Trump presidency would be problematic for us. I also don't think that once you look behind the curtain that Clinton is really any better in the long run.

Would you like death by firing squad or hanging? Either way you end up dead. The choice between Clinton and Trump is kinda like that. It's a no win situation, it's just a matter of how much is it going to suck and in which direction.

Re: Presidential voting - Who and Why and Poll

Im voting for Johnson, unless the lines remain as they are, and then Im not going to bother.
I refused to vote for Clinton, and voting for Trump just rubs me the wrong way. Im not saying Libertarian party is the answer, but Id rather have a third option in the future to try and keep the other 2 on their toes. At this point, if Clinton and Trump are the best the two parties can come up with, then its time to get a third party involved.

We've gotten to the point of despising the candidate so much that they will not be able to sway our opinion, ever. You can see it with Obama and you'll definitely see it with these two. It is scary and the future is not looking bright for the country.
